SUNDAY 13 SEPTEMBER
Sixteenth Sunday after Trinity 1970 256th day - 109 days to come
Wrote to "Mrs. Frances Sheridan Goulart" (see 7/21) telling
her about THE FIRESIDE BOOK OF CARDS at "Biblio & Tannen."
Using the strips I started before switching to
the smaller TANGLED WEB, I finished up a new
model with a 6 x 6 field. The strips are as follows:
[Six horizontal strips each with 9 numbers, left to right.
Strip 1 [left to right]: 2, 1, 4, 1, 3, 3, 1, 2, 4
Strip 2 [left to right]: 1, 1, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 2
Strip 3 [left to right]: 1, 3, 4, 2, 3, 3, 1, 2, 4
Strip 4 [left to right]: 2, 4, 1, 2, 3, 2, 4, 2, 1
Strip 5 [left to right]: 2, 4, 3, 1, 4, 1, 3, 2, 4
Strip 6 [left to right]: 3, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 1, 4, 4.
Six vertical strips, each with 9 numbers, to to bottom.
Strip 1 [top to bottom]: 3, 2, 2, 1, 4, 3, 2, 1, 4
Strip 2 [top to bottom]: 2, 1, 3, 2, 4, 3, 1, 1, 4
Strip 3 [top to bottom]: 3, 2, 4, 3, 2, 3, 1, 4, 3
Strip 4 [top to bottom]: 1, 3, 4, 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 2
Strip 5 [top to bottom]: 4, 1, 2, 2, 1, 3, 4, 2, 4
Strip 6 [top to bottom]: 2, 1, 1, 4, 3, 2, 2, 4, 1.]
(For solu-
tion see
6/29.)
Looked at SPECTRUM. Packed it, TOTALLY--,
IMPOSSIBLE, as well as the sketches for EXCALIBUR
to bring to Bob Hallowell tomorrow.
Felicia called the contract and the checks ($187.50
for me and $62.50 for her) came for ANOTHER. Told her
I'd come there today.
Sept. 1970 NOST-ALGIA came.
To Bob Hallowell. He gave me a copy of QUINTESSENCE.
This is not selling too well. His others, TRI-TAC-TOE
and MADMAZE (see 5/17) are doing great. They will be
in the Sears catalog.
Showed him EXCALIBUR; he liked it.
THIS HAPPENED 9/14 [bracket drawn up to paragraph starting with "Felicia called the contract..."]
(cont. from 9/14) [9/14]
In the plant passed the place where QUINTESSENCE was be-
ing assembled. Asked for and received a box of colored
tiles and circles used for the puzzle.
Bob wanted to go to his designer to start discussing final
design but I said I should make a model first. Promised
it by next Monday.
Before in discussing terms Bob said he gives 5% pay-
able quarterly - within 45 days of the end of the quarter.
He would prefer not to give an advance, since he is short
of money. His expectation on the puzzle is sales
(cont. on 8/7)
