TUESDAY 1 SEPTEMBER 1970
244th day - 121 days to come
Before starting to demonstrate looked at some of the other
games upstairs in the store room, Two on race relations were:
GLORY ROAD- © 1969 Creative Environments. Move along path by
spinner. "Luck" cards drawn when land on space send you
forward or back. "Question" cards give another turn if
answered correctly; send you back 2 Spaces if answered
incorrectly. (Rough idea)
DIGNITY - © 1969 Friendship Press. Path game. Have 5 cards
in hand and choose which to use - except that "Rent" and
some others must be used at once. If use "Uncle Tom's Limbo"
shortcut may not use "Freedom" cards for rest of game. (These
are mixed in the regular deck and are good ones for getting ahead.)
Cards have timely material on them such as:
"As you were walking by a disorderly, picket line today;
a policeman clubbed you on the head. Go Back 8."
"You live in a white neighborhood. Several families in your
area have set up a get acquainted party for a black family
that has, recently moved in. Everybody Go Ahead 4," (Rough idea.)
Al Field, the card collector, stopped by, I asked him
If he had the Marshal McLuhan deck of Cards. No. He'll
call me at home about getting together.
Herb Seigel stopped by with his wife and children. I
thanked him for the clipping he sent me and apologized
for not writing about it before. He understood He reextended
his invitation for BB and me to go there. We'll
make it in the beginning of October.
Herb told me that the issue of the last week in August of
either SATURDAY REVIEW or NEW REPUBLIC had a long
article on simulation games.
Borrowed the following 6 Interact games from Jane Jordan:
PANIC, DIG, MISSION, DESTINY, DIVISION, & SUNSHINE.
She also gave me a copy of the 7/22 NEWSDAY, with
the article that mentioned me.
Jack Davis called to confirm our date for photos tomorrow.
I told him about the popularity of
BAZAAR. and the comments on the copy on the box.
He'll be on vacation next week but thinks we should
get together the week after to block out a letter to St. Paul.
Stephen Sondheim, who says he is a game collector and
inventor stopped by, He has AGOG and several of my
games. He obtained my address from Martin Gardner
but hadn't gotten around to writing. He hasn't tried
