THURSDAY 27 AUGUST
1970 239th day - 126 days to come
To Felicia at lunch time. Returned TRIAGO, by Steve Barkoczy.
Felicia says that X is impressed with Steve's games (tho
this will be shown elsewhere) and is in direct mail and phone
contact with him.
When she spoke with X about my going there (she said she didn't re-
member who's idea it was) it seemed that they were in a
hurry. But then they can change their mind completely.
Wouldn't tell me any more about the one who said my work was
getting repetitious.
X loved Allan Turoff's MAKE A PUZZLE GAME.
I looked at Lilly Elkan's games.
WALK, WADE, TAKE A CANOE! - There is a board showing an
island and land around the island. A series of paths with
spaces along them run thru the two areas. Where they
cross the water there are canoes which are mounted so that
they can be slid back and forth. Half start on one side
and half on the other. Each player has a number of
men which are started on the two sides of the water.
By dice throws pcs. are moved along the paths. Each tries to
return to their home villiage which is across the water
from their starting place. When land by exact count on an
opponent he is captured. Can use a canoe only if it is
on [crossed out] your side of the water when you reach it.
Collect 5 points for each captured man and 10 points for
each that is brought home safely. (Fairly complete idea.)
CHALLENGE! - This is a series of dissected puzzles.
Each one is on a different subject, such as composers,
artists, etc. The pcs. are rectangular. Some of the names
(composers) are complete on one pc., others run across two
pcs. forming the clue for assembling. Each player chooses
one subject and then finds their pcs. among a combined
pile and tries to be the first to assemble theirs.
Neither Felicia nor I were impressed with them.
Looked at another game by some gal Felicia knows. There
is a mechanical, electrical gadget with a pointer and several
colored fields. The pointer points to a color for a
set time and then, with a sound, changes to another
(random or in definite order?) The first player pointed
to writes a 4-letter word. Then players in turn change
one letter at a time to form an unused new word.
Each player keeps his own list of words and new words
are announced aloud. There is a scoring system which
I didn't get.
I told Felicia that I had been fooling around with
word strings of this nature. She said that possibly it
would be better if I didn't look at other people's ideas.
I said that, having seen this, I'll just stop work on it
myself.
"EduCards" is taking over the "3M EduPlaytional" line. Felicia
worked it out together with Irv Brambier of "EduCards."
