SATURDAY 22 AUGUST
1970 234th day - 131 days to come
August TOYS & NOVELTIES came. Nothing of importance.
Called Arthur. Nothing specifically about games.
Working on game diary all day.
Mailed AIRLINE to Hank Laub[?] at "Stancraft."
(cont. from 8/28) [9/8]
Asked for and rcd. another bag of "Deelle Bobbers."
Back to Felicia. Rudy Lopez there. Had a new version of
LIVE WIRE which he calls KNIT THE BLANKET (horrible
name). Each player has 9 pcs. These are set up on a
checkerboard each player using one
[three squares labeled "(1)," "(2)," and "(6)." First is shaded with blue, two outside lines and X across center. Second has two outside lines shaded blue. Third only has left outside line shaded blue. Also 8 x 8 grid, some squares containing Xs.]
color. The single "stitcher" is on the back
row & the others are haphazard. His original
rules limited pcs. to the color they start
on but we changed that to any space be-
fore we played. He allowed only a forward
movement of all pcs. except the stitcher,
but after a few games decided that any
movement should be allowed.
A continuous blue line from the stitcher
to the blue portion of an opponent's pc.
captures. Capture of the stitcher wins the
game. I said that I'd fix up the game but I would
have to do a lot of testing and juggling and I'd probably need
till the end of September.
Felicia said that Rudy & I should split down the middle and
he signed an agreement.
Looked at his game ADVENTURE AT SEA. Had a gadget with sliding
disc on bottom with compass directions and two partial
discs. When the top two are opened they tell who moves and
in what direction. Object to move a ship across board to op-
posite port. There may be an idea here but it certainly doesn't
work now. I said that I'd much rather work on LIVE WIRE.
His other GAME was an action game which I didn't see. Felicia
thought there were possibilities with it.
Rcd. Sept.-Oct. GENERAL, PANZER BLITZ (Jim's game) is on
the cover.
At Felicia's, she rcd. a manila envelope with a long exposition
on TRIP from Steve Barkoczy. Glanced thru it quickly but
didn't have the time to really look at it. (Pretty much the same as the one I have.)
