SATURDAY 15 AUGUST 1970
Assumption B. V. Mary 227th day - 138 days to come
Working on the review of THE STOCK MARKET GAME.
(cont. from 8/16) [8/19]
the $125 closing fee & I paid the rest.
Claude gave me three copies of CONNECT-A-CARDS, the construction
kit.
At "Toy City" a young fellow was looking at VENTURE. Started talking to
him and he is a game fan who buys a lot of games and has a group
that plays them. He bought VENTURE.
Sent a repro of the DAILY NEWS article mentioning ACQUIRE to
Jack Davis, as he requested.
Gave the new secretary in our office, "Betty", a copy of the FOCUS booklet
and the COMBINATION column.
[started 8/19]
(cont. from 8/20) [8/20]
Played a game and I found it quite dull. Pointed out to her
that the game could be stalled with each player being behind
the same marker, continually turning it. (A way out of this
which I thought of later, is to have point values to the rows
and if it gets stalled the one with most points across is the winner.)
CHECK POINT:- Played on a 16x16 quadrille board with a large
number of pcs. like the following [drawing of 4 squares colored in except the third box; another 4 squares with only the outermost squares colored in], etc. The
colors are reversed on the other side of the pc. Players (2)
in turn draw a pc. and place it on the board, either
side up. Object is to get 6 of your color in a row or
column. There may be empty spaces between the winning 6,
but not squares of the opponent's color. (Played a few games
and it was moderately interesting.)
SPIRO-DOT:- Board is as shown [drawing on right of concentric circles subdivided by 6 lines]with
each ring being movable. Players
(2) in turn place a marker of their
color in any empty space and then
rotate any ring one space in a
clockwise direction. Object is to get 5 in a row along a radius,
along a ring, or in a spiral. (Not
sure of the details.) (Played and it
played O.K.)
COLOR UP:- Colored balls of 6 colors which are placed in a random
12x12 arrangement. Players in turn throw from 4 to 6
(depending on difficulty desired) cubes with a different
color on each face. Must find a group joined orthagonally with
matching colors in a time limit. This is one of a series
(cont. on 5/28)
