FRIDAY 31 JULY 1970
212th day - 153 days to come
To Hank Lamb's room at the "Park Sheraton." Played a game of
TRANSFORMATION with him and he beat me. Tom Atwater
came in while we were playing. Hank liked it and took it
with him. The only possible problem - the number of
stones req'd. But Hank thinks that can be worked out.
The goof in the packaging of INTERPLAY and ODD OR EVEN
will be a problem to correct but Hank will see what he
can do.
"Saxon Industries" (paper, etc.) have bought out "Brown &
Bigelow" and there will be more money next year to ex-
pand and push the "Stancraft" line.
Hank thinks they have enough puzzles in their "Setco line"
even tho they sell well. He would like to add more games
in the DOZO vein to the "Stancraft" line.
He is going to use Alex' game that I saw as TOUR. Alex
changed the name to PLAZA. I mentioned that "Parker"
had used the name PLAZA quite a few years ago.
Hank is thinking of using magnets implanted in the
wood to keep the line segments in place.
Hank mentioned that he would like some more fun type
games & I suggested HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME and he wants
to see it. I'll send it.
I told him about AIRLINE and he'd like to see it also. I'll send it.
He said that "Stancraft" is now selling cards to many of
the casinos in Las Vegas and that there might be an oppor-
tunity to prepare a special "Las Vegas" gambling GAME
which would be sold as a souvenir by the casinos.
Tom has a Danish client (not Piet Hein) who has
two games using 20-sided dice: CASINO DICE and 59.
Hank asked Tom if he knew a supplier for CHESS sets.
Tom will check on it. He also mentioned Alex' MAD MATE.
Alex has promised a big cut of the royalties to the
CHESS federation. They are playing the game and may
give it their official endorsement.
Tom asked how UP & DOWN was doing. (Don't remember the answer).
Tom showed a game called GANG PLANK. It has a sloping
surface like a pin ball machine except that the balls are
just started from the top. There is an array of
small holes into which 3 deflectors can be placed. They
have one flat side so that the turning in also involved.
There are 3 large holes and the object is to have them
filled. The player has 5 balls to achieve this with and
before releasing each ball he can move any or all of
the deflectors. (After Tom left Hank said he didn't think
much of it.)
GANG PLANK was done by one of Tom's clients who
has placed three things with "Parker": two things for very
young children and CAPER.
Tom was talking about how some of his clients are al-
ways calling him about their games. I said that I don't
