SATURDAY 18 JULY 1970
199th day - 166 days to come
July PLAYTHINGS came. Had the following news article.
"New York - Sheldon Lieberman has been elected presi-
dent and chief executive officer of "Ed-U-Cards Corporation"
and also of its parent company, "ESR."
"Ed-U-Cards" is a manufacturer and distributor of edu-
cational games including flash cards, card games, and
computer action toys.
Marvin Katz, of TOYS & NOVELTIES here for lunch and to
interview me for GRIT. Took pictures in color and
b. & w.
We talked about the article on games. I asked a-
bout the list of best-selling games and it was just
something they came up with themselves. I told him
I was disappointed at the omission of ACQUIRE. He sug-
gested that I write a letter to the editor. Actually they
have trouble getting enough letters.
Gave him Jack Davis and Tom Nelson's number for him
to get games. He is particularly interested in getting some
3M games. He will suggest to Tom Nelson that they submit
glossies for inclusion in the "new products sections."
Played a couple of games of INDIAN CHESS with Phil Laurence
on a rough board I made. Not bad but could stall if
neither player is willing to take a chance when the sides
are jammed up at the point of contact.
Showed THE THIRTEENTH TORTURE to Phil. Much too hard. (Later
did a little thinking about a rational approach to solving
it.)
Played 4-hand TRANSFORMATION, Phil & BB against Annette
& me. I think it was great.
(cont. from 7/20) [7/21]
They had a game BRIDGETTE which was played with
special cards. It is for two but players can get info on
opponent's hand by using "Cue & Asking Bids." Op-
ponent must answer truthfully unless they jump immedi-
ately to a game bid.
"A & F" wanted $7.95 for it. At the back of the rules
it can be ordered by mail for $6.95. They also
have a rule book for $1.50. They are -
[bracket] BRIDGETTE Game Co.
527 Lexington Ave.
New York, N.Y. 10017
The book: LAWS OF BRIDGETTE.
I walked over there
but no one was there.
Sent a check for $1.59
in the eveing.
Called Felicia. Told her of my suggested addition to INDIAN CHESS
and arranged to bring the rules in on Thursday.
(cont. on 7/11)
