TUESDAY 7 JULY 1970
188th day - 177 days to come
Called Tom Nelson as he told me to if I didn't receive DOZO,
CASTILLE nd ZODIAC 999, which I didn't. He got after
them at the home office and he'll also check whether there is
a warehouse in this area. I told him about my upcoming
GRIT interview.
He spoke to Jane Jordan & she is taking TEMPO, ODD OR EVEN
and INTERPLAY from "Stancraft". From Hank Simmons she is taking
PICK UP STICKS, several puzzles including THE IMPUZZABLES, and
some other material of similar nature.
He mentioned that if i want games from 3M I should ask
Bob McCumber and he gave me his address and number.
Jack Davis called. They checked with St. Paul and they are quite
anxious to be represented in the "Hallmark Gallery". The one
who originally read Jane's letter apparently just looked at her
request for antique games & didn't read the rest of the letter.
They are airmailing the Gamettes.
Jack has the Bookshelf games, except ACQUIRE. They have
been looking in the stores but it is sold out. I told him I had one,
but it has been used a little. He'll call tomorrow and may use
it if they can't locate another.
I asked him to replenish mu supplies of my games when he
has some on hand.
Called Fabio. Asked him about the EXECUTIVE BOOK CLUB "Executive Book Club". He checked
and called me back. It is a branch of the "Science Book Club".
They took 2000 copies. He said that the sales, due to returns,
were down to 6,851. (Does this include the book clubs?) He
said that he'd try to keep AGOG on their list and get it more
publicity this fall, but there are always new books coming out.
They have looked for a paperback publisher, so far without success.
When I told him I had contracts for two puzzles he said
he would love to have a book of puzzles for 8 to 10 year
olds. Told him I'd think about it.
While doing a little thinking thought that BAZAAR
could be worked into a series of puzzles.
I called Felicia and she called back. Quite depressed about business.
Rappaport's is calling off their annual Regatta in Central Park,
probably due to bad business.
Read her the letter on SEAVECN[?] from Jim Kraus. She
thinks we should fight. Made repro to bring to her.
The inventor of INDIAN CHESS said i should write the
rules, for 25% of his royalties. I'll try to do them next weekend.
I'll go there Friday to bring TANGLED WEB and to pick up
INDIAN CHESS and LIVE WIRE.
Talked about "Hallmark" Exhibit and she said she'd push 3M
to pay me to demonstrate. I'd just as soon they didn't, so she
won't work on it.
