THURSDAY 2 JULY 1970
183rd day - 182 days to come
Read over the rules of DUPINOCHLE and HEX-A-BOARD on the subway
Also some more of Abt's SERIOUS GAMES.
Called Diane Jaust. She said she didn't get my message of
yesterday. She thinks it would be great to have AGOG at
the exhibit. We decided that I'll get a copy to Jane Jordan
and she'll have a replacement sent to me.
She never heard of the Executive Book Club.
When I didn't hear from Jack Davis I called him. He got
together with Jane today. The one at 3M who answered
Jane's letter was not someone I knew, tho he wouldn't
mention the name. Jane will probably use only my games
or possibly a few more. He'll send her all of them anyway.
They may have trouble getting the Gamettes since they are in
short supply. I told him that Felicia had copies of MONAD,
VENTURE and HIGH BID.
Jack said he checked with Audrey and it would be O.K. for me
to demonstrate. He didn't say anything about 3M paying me
for my time.
Jack gave Jane a copy of AGOG.
Called Jane Jordan. She read a little of AGOG and is
impressed with it.
We arranged for me to demonstrate from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4.
The manufacturer's exhibits will not be permanent. Instead
they'll be changed (weekly, I guess). Although there are
guards she expects pilferage of the game components.
I'll call her in the middle of next week to arrange a meeting
when I'll bring her my resume and we'll discuss
the press conference.
Jim Dunnigan here for supper. Brought me: 5 copies
of S & T - issue #21. 3 copies of his new brochure. Staff
Newsletter No. 3. A new G.A.G.E form for evaluating war
games. The results of the feedback on issue #21
so far. (CHICAGO-CHICAGO)is last. My column is next to last.)
For $70 Jim rented a 2000 name "sample" from a list of
158,000 people who bought The American Heritage World War 2
Book. (abt. $10) by mail order. He sent brochures to them
and if the returns are 5% or better he'll send to the entire list.
Also available are a 400,000 list of Psychology Today
subscribers; 270,000 list of Saturday Review subscribers;
280,000 combined list of buyers of history books by mail.
Jim would like to know what list GAME OF THE MONTH CLUB (N.Y,)
\used. (Was it A.H.?)
A.H. is definitely doing PANZER BLITZ as a regular game in
their series. This is a development of the Test Series.
TACTICAL GAME 3. They are also interested still in
(cont. on 6/11)
