TUESDAY 30 JUNE
1970 181st day - 184 days to come
To Felicia at lunch. Gave her the leather box we bought in Rome.
Gave the information she asked for on LIFT OFF.
Told her about GRIT and she thinks it is good exposure.
As far as she knows it is not right wing.
X wants to consider INDIAN CHESS but say they can't fol-
low the rules. Felicia gave me a repro and I can see
what they mean. Felicia called the inventor twice and
he is supposed to call her back.
Steve Barkoczy, the inventor of UGLY CUBES and TRIP was
there. He and I played his new game - TRIAGO. It plays
well but is not particularly different or exciting.
He gave me a set of the rules. Verbally he told him that
the rules could be simplified greatly by prohibiting a
player from making a line of more than 4 adjacent pcs. He
thinks that this is not quite as good a game.
Felicia decided that there was no one she could show it to
at present and Steve insisted that I take the board with me.
He had another series of 4 boards with different variations
of MILL. He called them AB'S ORB. (An abbreviation of the
scientific name for spiders. The game is not called SPIDER.)
We all agreed there was really no market for them.
[diagram of hexagon with four concentric bands of hexagons, divided into twelve wedge segments]
Played with 25 pcs. for each of 2 players.
Capture with line of 5, either radial
or along two sides.
[diagram of hexagon with two concentric bands of hexagons, divided into twelve wedge segments]
Played with 15 pcs.
for each of 2 players.
Capture with line of
3 in a straight line.
[diagram of pentagon with four concentric bands of pentagons, divided into ten wedge segments]
Played with 20 pcs.
for each of two players.
Capture with line
of 5, either radial
or along two sides.
[diagram of octagon with three concentric bands of octagons, divided into sixteen wedge segments]
Played with 12
pcs. for each
of 2 plans. Cap-
ture with line of
4. (How does this work? Maybe I don't
have the diagram correct.
Gave Steve the rules of FOCUS
from Felicia's set. Will get
her another.
