TUESDAY 23 JUNE 1970
174th day - 191 days to come
Call "Houghton Mifflin" and got the exact money to send
for the two copies of FOUR BY FOUR. Sent a letter &
check in the evening.
Called the "Stancraft" Ad Agency and spoke to Tom Nelson.
He once worked with Bill Benson for 3M and he remem-
bered meeting me at a restaurant. He was glad that I
contacted him. He'll try and arrange some publicity.
He asked if I knew Hank Simmons. Hank's outfit is also
a client of theirs and he thinks he may be able to ar-
range publicity featuring the two of us. He'll tell Hank
that he spoke to me.
I asked and he will send me DOZO, CASTILLE, ODYSSEY,
& ZODIAC111 (which he says is a game). Later I called to
ask if it would be better to pick them up and he said he had
called the home office to have them shipped to me. If I don't
receive them by the end of next week I should contact him
to check on them.
Felicia called. She had the checks from X for WINDOW PAINS
and THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS. I jogged over at lunch to get
[crossout] her check for $375 (my share - the whole $500
was sent to her).
Garrity of "Schaper" was in. Wants plastic things without
reading and with a surprise ending. All of her possibilities
were already out for consideration. She wishes I'd do some
by November.
She got of copy of KRYPTO from "Gary & Riedel", one they
had lying around since they aren't selling it anymore.
She had the following letter from Bob Edwards:-
Dear Felicia:
Thank you for your prompt response to my recent inquiry.
We would like to see the political game, QUEST, if you can lo-
cate it - the same is true of KRYPTO (He spelled it "Crypto").
No one here recalls what it was about, but your past reports indi-
cate it was a good one. PITFALL is another game that apparently
slipped through our fingers, but we would like to review it again.
We are getting SPELLBINDER ready for play testing, we , too, like the looks of it and it appears Sid has developed another good word
game.
All of your past reports indicate that games dealing with space
race are not doing well. We agree that this market is probably
weak right now so will hold off and not look at the space game
you mentioned (ASTRO-FLITE).
Enclosed are two agreements for Sid to execute, retaining
the original of each for his file and returning the copy for
our file. Also enclosed are check numbers 40391 and 40392.
Sincerely, Bob
