Sunday 14 June 1970
Third Sunday after Trinity 165th day - 200 days to come
American Flag Adopted 1777
The following arrived while we were in Europe.
STOCK MARKET GAME (Whitman). The game is the same as the previous set I have. The equipment however is improved. One problem, they told me, was that the slide indicator moved by accident. This, apparently, has been corrected.
QUERIES 'N THEORIES (Wff 'N Proof). Also a letter from "Jo Ann Sanderson", Ruth Patmore's assistant, and a press release on the game.
INTERPLANITARY COMMUNICATOR - a publication put out by Sam Ferris. Seems interesting but is of poor printing quality. Has articles about WAR OF THE EMPIRES, WAR OF THE RINGS (A LENSMAN variant), and GALAXY.
THE PANZERFAUST (Vol. 5-No.2, June '70). Has a LUFTWAFFE variant, a review of UP AGAINST THE WALL-MOTHERFUCKER, a MIDWAY variant, and an ad for a book entitled RULES FOR MODERN WARFARE (2) and 4 Napoleonic wargames - EYLAU, ASPERN-ESSLING, AUSTERLITZ, and JENA-AUERSTADT (the 4 for $5).
NOST-ALGIA (April '70, #120). Has a new game TEN-SQUARE.
NOST-ALGIA (May '70, #121). (Has a new format.) Has an article on new games by Dr. John S. Thayer.
Letter from Tom Shaw saying he was sending the survival books to Jim Dunnigan with the idea that he and I would probably work on the GAME together. (Rcd. 6/1.)
Letter from Jerry D'Arcey. "Schaper" is interested in Frank's SHAKE-A-LEG. TOTAL OUT is getting on and "3M" is looking at Frank's Balancing Sticks idea. A friend bought a game they liked and it turned out to be ACQUIRE.
"Samsonite" is interested in COMMODITY. THE IMPUZZABLES
should hit a half million this year. PLUG-A-JUG is still a guess.
CHOICE is not moving with "A-H". KUFU was returned by "Parker."
The HOOKER was on Johnny Carson's show and was well rcd. at
stationery show. A manufacturer of elegant CHESS sets
is interested in ZOD (see 11/16/67). The plastic wheel puzzle
YIN-YANG is being considered. "Mattel" is interested in
CHIMP-CHAMP. He came up with a strategy game called
TURNTABLE. (Rcd. 6/1.)
Rcd. from IDEAS - Newsletter- Vol. 2, No. 3 - Professional News Notes- Vol. 1-No. 3. (Rcd. 6/1)
Letter from Tom Burger. They are revising the rules for FOCUS and will send me a copy for my comments. They are sending a copy of STOCK MARKET GAME. (Rcd. 6/3.)
Letter from "Arnold Asrelsky", an AGOG reader. He told me about VECTOR. Also asked about a good football game. (Rcd. 6/5.)
Letter from Haar Hoolim. Enclosed a copy of "Panker's" rejection of his cube PUZZLE and his answer to "Parker." [crossout] Also a short letter to me. (Rcd. 6/5.)
