THURSDAY 11 JUNE
St. Barnabas
Kamehameha Day (Hawaii) 1970 162nd day - 203 days to come
Looked in two department stores in Rome, including
"CIM" - the largest. All they had was MONOPOLY,
some word games, and sports games.
(cont. from 7/2) [7/2]
ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR II. This is a development of T.S.
BARBAROSSA.
The last five war games they put out didn't do to
well, including Jim's two, and they are looking for
a real hit. Their non-war games are also not moving, ex-
cept B&O/C&O which is doing fairly well. Their two
religious games moved in Baltimore where a monseignor
pushed them. Elsewhere they bombed.
Jim also brought me repros of his correspondence with
Tom Shaw concerning the survival GAME. Jim is think-
ing of some kind of quiz cards. We decided that I
would stay out unless he needed my help.
We had a big discussion of his desire to use some kind of
"G.A.G.E." form for all games. I said it would be impos-
sible.
Drove Jim to his bldg. Made 3 sets of repros. of the
Queen's Puzzle in RÉCRÉATIONS MATHÉMATIQUES by
Lucas. Claude wanted a copy.
Made about 25 copies of my resumé, which BB typed
today.
10 each of the rules for ODD OR EVEN, INTERPLAY, & TEMPO.
6 each of the book LES JEUX D'ÉCHECS NON ORTHODOXES. (Gave
one to Jim to give to "Nick," who is CHESS freak.)
Would have done NOUVEAUX JEUX D'ÉCHECS NON ORTHODOXES but I was
too tired.
Phil Orbanes also over to do some repros. He ran off a
set of his latest report on new games for "All state" and gave
it to me. He intends to call his new line of games
"Adult Entertainment Centers." I told him about "Hasbro's"
use of the name "Home Entertainment Centers" but he
didn't seem concerned.
Jerry Goldstein may have him go ahead with 4 of the
games he prepared last year:- THE MONEY GAME, INFINITY,
CAR-TEL (under a new name and reworked), and which other?
Phil would like me to put them in final form and write the
rules. He is getting 2 1/2% royalty (the most they'll give
him while he is still working there) and also there will be
about $2000 in fees to have it done. We'll put it all in the
"Infinity Corp." pot and discuss how to divide it.
Phil finally found his copy of INVEST and brought it to me.
