FRIDAY 5 JUNE
Sacred Heart 1970 156th day - 209 days to come
At Harrod's bought CHANNEL X (Pepys). Also bought the book
MATHEMATICAL GAMES by C. Lukács and E. Tarján. This
is the book the book that uses ELEUSIS, calling it
THE SECRET RULES, without mentioning Bob Abbott. Also
bought a number of chips in three unusual colors.
Saw AMOEBA an interesting import from Sweden.
At Hamley's bought AMOEBA, SHERLOCK HOLMES, FLAG-STONES,
TACKLE, and ZODIAC - to be shipped.
Also bought GLOBALL, a soccer game played with 3 dice. They
had other editions with a lot more dice. (Took this with me.)
Looked at the following which I didn't buy:
WARPATH - a "war" game between cowboys and indians. (Didn't get any details.)
SAGA - a single path game with scenes from history (of England I believe) When land on a space can get a card corresponding to it. There are a number of different classifications and object is to get one of each. However the card counts a point value equal to the century in which it occurred and the player completing may have less points than an opponent if he has a hand full of lower centuries. (Rough idea.)
GOLFING - A Golf game, but can't remember anything about it.
HI-LIFE - A board game where players move around having a good time on their father's money. (Very rough idea.)
At Foyle's bought 8-DEAL BRIDGE IN 20 MINUTES.
At Selfridge's saw HIGH FINANCE (Triang). (Was going to buy it but
had to have the traveller's check approved on another floor
& BB and Anne were waiting for me.) It is a stock market games
with about 6 stocks which fluctuate. A stock goes up each
time it is bought. Certain cases cause things to happen to
a stock. These can be played voluntarily and certain spaces
make play of certain cards compulsary. (Just glanced
at the rules. Will try to order it from England.)
Also saw KING OF ENGLAND. This was a board and card
game where the players try to get the proper cards
connected with certain spaces of the board in order to be-
come King of England. (Barely looked at the rules.)
Also saw LAST OF THE BIG SPENDERS. (Didn't look at it at all.)
