Wednesday 3 June 1970
Confederate Memorial Day (Tenn., Ky.) 154th day - 211 days to come
Looked at the games Pierre loaned last night:-
[Drawing to the right comprised of triangles drawn together in a polygon with two triangles colored in, five triangles with letters A-E written in, and one triangle with "GO" written. Symbols drawn on left side of page has four upside down Vs: one with no dots, one with 1 dot drawn, one with 2 dots, one with 3 dots drawn. Underneath is a triangle with a square, one dot, and two dots drawn in each corner.]
LE TRIOKER - (I asked Pierre
to send me the first six pages
of the rules - the rest being
devoted to puzzles.) The
games are played with tri-
angular pcs. 24 with all the
combinations of the four sym-
bols, as shown on the left. There
is an additional pc. as shown,
the [square] being wild. The dia-
gram on the right is used in one of
the games. (The 24 combinations: - 012, 021, 013, 031, 023, 032,
123, 132, 000, 001, 002, 003, 111, 112, 113, 110, 222, 223, 220, 221,
333, 330, 331, 332.)
(Key to the diagram:- A- "Payez 5 a la banque." B- "Prison for 1 turn."
C- "Recevez 5 de la banque." D- "Recevez 2 de la Suivant." E- "Payez 2 a
chaque jouer.")
is an additional pc.
ECHEC AUX CHEVALIERS -
(Asked Pierre for the rules.)
This is a variation of CAMALOT
played on the board shown.
[Arrow drawn pointing to a 9x9 grid with some boxes containing Cs, "GOAL" or a jagged circle.]
MACADAM (Capiepa). An auto-
mobile race game with dice, cards
and some kind of points. (looked at
for only a moment.)
ELDORADO (Edmond Dujardin.) A
MONOPOLY type game. (Asked Pierre for
the rules - repros that is.)
REPORTAGES (Edmond Dujardin.) A
RUMMY type game based on news
reporting. 54 card deck has 18 reporters, 16 events, & 18 stories.
Different types of completed hands
have different scoring values. (Asked
Pierre to send repros of the rules.)
RAFLE: (Edmond Dujardin.) Each
player has a set of 46 paper
slips with information, each re-
presenting a suspect. One player chooses one of his suspects as
the guilty party and the others try to be first to determine
his identity. By use of cards (I believe) players are able to
ask questions about the characterist[ics]s of the guilty party, such
as "Is his hair brown?" only the player asking gets the answer,
and sometimes it can be "I don't know." (Didn't get all the
details, but they didn't seem too clear. Also it is supposed to
be a game of deduction, but seemed to be merely a matter
of elimination.)
Went thru the SPHINX repros quickly and picked out the
