WEDNESDAY 27 MAY 1970
147th day - 218 days to come
Home from work. Finished PROFIT and PE-LING.
Started my column for S & T.
Called Stan Harris to check on AIRLINE. He said his
secretary sent it out a few days ago. It came, by U.P.S.
(I believe) later in the day. Seemed to be in good condition.
The rules for DIRTY WATER and SMOG came, but
not the games themselves.
We got together with the Soucies. Claude and I looked in
Toy City. Richie said that ACQUIRE and the card games
were doing well. BAZAAR is not doing well.
CHINESE CHECKERS. Players try to bring their men to
their space ships. [illegible cross out] As soon as a man enters a
space ship the outer ring is rotated one space. (Rough
idea.)
COLOR WHEEL : - A series of imitative games. (Don't remember
any of the details.)
CODE WORD : - Looked too much like one that Jerry D'Arcey
showed me so I didn't look at it.
SQWASH : - This is an imitation of TANGLE
(which Gini said she saw once for a short
time.) The board is as shown.
[Diagram of an 11 x 11 grid. The outer edge rows and colomns are blue. The next in toward center are red, and the rest of the interior is black. Some of the squares in the grid are darkened as in a crossword.]
The ink linesare only used when two play. The
red spaces are added for 3. And the blue
spaces are added for 4.
Each player has a set of 15 pcs.
like the following [Diagram of threee polyomino shapes including a +.]
, etc. All posible arrangements of 4
segments, except a completed square,
are included. Players in turn place
a pc. Object is to form 1 or more
complete squares. These are marked with the player's marker.
The colored squares (which I am sure are not in this
arrangement( count double.
A piece cannot be placed that isolated a single line
segment on the board.
(Played the game. Started interestingly but bogged down
as the better pcs. were used.)
PINPOINT : - (Told her that Parker had a game of the same
name, which she knew.) Played on a 12 x 12 quadrille. When
2 play each has 7 pcs., 3 - 6 pcs., 4 - 5 pcs. There are also
60 "barriers" which are placed in turn by the players at the
start of the game, being placed on the line between two
