TUESDAY 26 MAY 1970
146th day - 219 days to come
To Felicia. Tom Mason, Tom Burger, and Bruce Freise there.
Felicia showed them some children's games. Then we
discussed FOCUS. Tom Mason had some samples of
new shapes for pcs. and some of them were quite
nice. Their intention is to upgrade to a $3 game so
they are not sure how fancy they get. I mentioned
the problem with pcs. running together in the
diagram in the rules. Also the added material
in AGOG on symmetrical play. Also my preference for
including 13 pcs. for the 4 - hand game. Tom Mason
made notes on all of this. They will also try to get
me a royalty cotract for the upgraded version.
I promised to send Tom Mason a copy of AGOG.
They took Felicia and me to lunch at Phil's. At restaurant
took a copy of the 5/18 TOY & HOBBY WORLD. Nothing
of interest.
Ran off repros of the PROFIT rules.
Rcd. a letter from Ed Tucker with the info. I asked
for on my our game of PATTERNS II.
Rcd. THE IFW MESSENGER (May 1970; Vol. 2, No. 5)
of interest only to members.
Called Arthur. Spoke to him about ALCHEMY and
VEROQ. In the former he has eliminated the diagonal
jump. Also he has added the "Maid". Didn't get all
the details from him, nor those on the latter. Will get
them when I have a little more time.
The new black and white sets of the HIGH DECK are
ready. I'll pick one up when we get together. I'll cover
it with contact and cut it myself.
Wald has put some ads in papers offering his services
in teaching games.
(cont. from 5/27) [8/20]
squares. After the barriers are placed the pcs. are placed.
After all are placed the play period begins. Each player
writes the move of one (I think it was only one on
a turn) pc., using a queen's move unobstructed by
barriers and other pcs., and the aiming of the pc. in its
final position. [illegible cross out] All moves are exposed and the
made at the same time. A pc. pointing at an enemy pc.
captures thatpc. (how about more than one in the line?).
Each player then removes a barrier and the game continues
in the same manner. (Didn't have all the details.)
