SUNDAY 24 MAY 1970
Trinity Sunday
144th day - 221 days to come
Working on PROFIT rules and equipment.
Started on the PE-LING rules.
(cont. from 5/25) [8/20]
Adjoining edges must match in color. (Didn't get the details.)
BLOCK AND BATTLE: - Each player has several different kinds
of pcs. with different kinds of move. Players also place
barriers so that it can't move. (Didn't get the
details. Told her about PLOY.)
PATTERNS : - There is a large quadrille and a number of
markers for each player. There is a set of cards
with patterns similar to those
show, indicating that patterns
can be made orthogonally or
diagonally. Players (2) draw
one card each and place it face
up. Players in turn place a
marker trying to complete their pattern & to block the
opponent's.
[Diagram of 4 rectangular cards. Two of the cards are populated with 5 squares and two are populated with 5 diamonds.]
When a pattern is completed the 5 markers
are covered and the player draws another card. First to
complete 5 patterns is the winner. (Played and it was fair.
Told Gini I'd prefer that she didn't use the name
since I had two games PATTERNS in my book. She said it
was up to a manufacturer to decide what name to use.)
CUBE-IT : - A set of cubes with all possible combinations
of 3 colors. These are drawn from a grab bag (I believe)
and then placed on a quadrille. When cubes adjoin there
facing sides must be the same color. Object is to complete
5 in a row (in any color?) (Rough idea.)
MAGNA-MADNESS : - Players in turn place magnets. When two or more
attract the player placing loses. Gini had some rules for
limiting the area of permissible play which were rather dull.
Told her that she'd have a really good game if she worked out
something better.
FIVES: - The board consists of 25 - 5 x 5 quadrilles arranged
in a 5 x 5 quadrille. Players in turn throw 4 dice and
use them in any order to choose a quadrille and a
position in the quadrille. (What about the 6th side?) Object
is to complete 5 in a row.
DEBATE : - This is a group activity rather than a game. (Didn't
get the details.)
"Golden Magic Wand" has taken over OH-PEG-IT. Gini has changed
the rules to provide more encounter. She will send me
a copy. She will also send me a copy of CONFRONTATION
which is a game based on the student encounters which
