TUESDAY 19 MAY
Tuesday in Whitsun Week 1970 139th day - 226 days to come
Called Charles Wibel at Metropolitan Life, but he has left there.
I called Jerry Goldstein and told him. Gave him Wibel's
N.J. address of the GAME OF THE MONTH CLUB (N.J.). He'll have
John Donahue call. I asked him to let me know how it comes
out and he promised he would.
Called "Houghton-Mifflin" and asked about the book FOUR BY FOUR.
I'll have to bring them the money and then they'll mail
copies to me. They don't have any store where the book is avail-
able.
To "Stationery Show." Met Felicia for a moment at the 3M booth.
Just missed Jim Rockwell at the "Stancraft" booth. Tried to get
him at his hotel, without success.
Saw the following:-
"Two's Company" - VARIATIONS. Called a game but is actually a pastime using plastic cubes on hinges so that they can be formed into various scuptural forms. (See Catalog - pg. 30.) "Vandow-Fenton" (I am told) has a similar item, called MULTIPLICATIONS.
"Crestline Mfg." - INTERLOCK. Another puzzle with pcs. interlocking at right angles to each other. (See catalog - pg. 31.)
"Loehrer Import" - DRIVE ME CRAZY. An interesting looking cube puzzle made in Austria, of cardboard. I was given a copy. (The com-pany has a showroom at 454 3rd Ave.)
"M.L. Adrian Co." - A two-hand GAME similar to CHINESE CHECKERS played with marbles on the board as shown.
[diagram of diamond grid with 10 black circles and 10 white circles placed on top and bottom of board]
"Austin Enterprises" - EGO-EGO-EGO. Another puzzle with pcs. inter-locking at right angles to each other. (See catalog - pg. 76.) Also THOSE BLOCKS - "Cadillac of Insanity Blocks."
"Arrco Playing Card Co." - They are now hand-ling the scarne games. I spoke to { Steve Salomon, Arrco Playing Cards, 200 Fifth Ave. I told him about the reason the scarne games weren't included in AGOG. He said they would handle things differently. I told him I'd like the rules for SCARNE DICE. He said he'd get them to me.
"Buzza Cardozo" - They are now handling SENSITIVITY. They also have something they call NUTS & BOLTS. It is only CHECKERS played with nuts and bolts as men.
"Pacific Game Co." - DIMENSIONS - played on a 4 x 4 x 4 board. The top 3 boards can be rotated. (See catalog - pg. 190.) QUIXOTIC DICE QUBE PUZZLE - Placing 21 rods into the spots on 6 sides of a large die. (See catalog - pg. 190.) (Also filed in 1970 Ad Clips.)
