FRIDAY 1 MAY
Sts. Philip and James, Apostles 1970 121st day - 244 days to come
Felicia called with a question Jim Goldsbury [crossed out]
[crossed out] had asked her about INDIAN CHESS. I answered it.
Also the letter said that WINDOW PAINS was good as a puzzle
but didn't hold up as a game. THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS is
good as both. They are keeping it and ANOTHER for further
testing and development.
She had a carbon of a letter to me from Jim Krauss,
concerning SEARCH, which he rcd.
She has appointments with a lot of inventors next week.
I'll go there next Thursday to show her MAN IN SPACE and to
look at what she picks up in the way of games.
Brian & John Blake here for supper. John didn't bring his stock'
market GAME. I'll go there sometime to play it.
They were with Harry Lorayne before coming here. He would
like to meet me, possibly next week. I'll be too busy then.
Brian will try to set it for the following week, possibly at
Lorayne's house.
Brian was quite interested in S & T. I'll get a copy to
him next week, when he brings me Lorayne's book again.
(cont. from 5/6) [5/6]
She is acquainted with Marvin Katz of TOYS & NOVELTIES. He is
also a free lance writer, [crossed out] with a connection with GRIT to
do a story on games. Mickey was trying to get him to feature
Jim Houlihan. However he told Mickey yesterday that Grit had ap-
proved a story on me. She gave him my number and I should be
hearing from him soon.
She gave me a copy of the M.B. 1970 catalog. Also a copy of
SWORDS AND SHIELDS. She will get ahold of STUMP, CROSS UP POKER, and
STRATEGY POKER for me.
Went to Rizzoli and looked at ENCICLOPEDIA DEI GIOCHI. There was
a lot on sports and children's games, very little on board games, and
while the coverage of cards was good, I already have the two smaller
volumes on cards. Didn't buy it.
Rcd. a letter from Tom Shaw of A.H. He thinks that the copies of
KRIEGSPIEL and THE STOCK MARKET GAME he sent me must have
been lost in the postal strike. He is sending new copies. Will be in
town for Stationery Show and would like to see me.
Rcd. a letter from Ed Tucker with the last 5 spaces I asked
about in our PATTERNS II game.
Working on COMBINATION. Tried it with 80 cards, 40 each from two
decks. It was too long.
