WEDNESDAY 8 APRIL
1970 98th day - 267 days to come
Thinking of turning CARD STOCK MARKET into a special card game.
Made notes and have it pretty well worked out. I'll need a
new name.
While I out at noon Jerry D'Arcey called. Left a message - "Goodbye."
At 1-2-Kangaroo (which is now part of Creative Playthings) bought a
new game CONNECT.
Saw TROY. It consists of 3 levels of boards as
shown. There are 16 marbles each of 2 colors.
[diagram of plus shape consisting of five squares, each divided into eight triangles]
A number of games are given. One is the
SOLITAIRE puzzle played on one level.
Another is a CHINESE CHECKERS type with
one player starting at one end of the top
board and the other at the other end of
the bottom board.
Another is played with marbles placed in turn on one level.
Score for small triangles formed with your color.
Another is player on three levels or on one, as chosen. Score
for completing a line, value the length of the line. Can be
vertical when using the 3 boards. A play can complete more
than one line at the same time. Each is scored, plus 2 pts.,
extra for the common marble.
(These are rough summations of the games.)
Saw SEXTETT. These are six games, translated from the German
and the translation is quite poor. I looked at the rules
but didn't buy it. The Creative Playthings 1969-70 catalog
(which I took) has pictures of the 6 boards.
FOXJUMPING: Pcs. are set up outside of the white area and
jumped in CHINESE CHECKERS style trying to bring them
to center portion. (Not sure if this is correct.)
THE MAGIC STAR : Most likely a PARCHISI variation, for 3 players.
PONTE: Pieces move around the rings by throw of a die.
When throw a 6 can construct a bridge between rings.
Any player may use it. A 6 also allows removal of a
bridge. Object to move all your pcs. to center. 2 to 6 players.
QUICKIE: 2 to 4 players. Use dice and move along a line.
Capture when land on opponent's pc. Object is to move into
center.
PIGGY-BACK: Pcs. can be piled and moved together, but
can be captured as a whole.
SUHAKARTA: (The only one I am reasonably sure of.) Sup-
posed to be an Indonesian game. The board is as shown.
Each player (2 players) has 12 men as shown. A move
consists of one line segment in any of the four directions,
if clear. A capture however is made by moving around
one or more of the rings and ending on an enemy [man?] which
is removed by replacement. The ring can be entered from
any position as long as the line leading to it is clear of
men, enemy or friendly. (Basically there are 2 circuits
(cont. on 4/5)
