MONDAY 23 MARCH
Monday in Holy Week 1970 82nd day - 283 days to come
Thinking about Pete Swift's GAME and came up with the
following:- When a player has "covered" and throws a seven and either
does not wish to or may not cover again, his opponent immediately removes
and covering chips. He then continues playing in the regular
manner.
Also thought that it might be a good idea to allow a
player to cover again, if he wishes, after only one additional chip
has been added to the row. Taking off, however, still requires
two additional chips.
Had a new idea for DATA. Use a set of 64 cards with 6 holes
in each (giving numbers from 0 to 63). A set of cars
is included, some saying "on", some saying "off", and a lesser
amount offering a "choice." These are dealt to the players
starting with the one who will play first until 6 are distributted.
Some players, unless 6 are playing, will have more than one.
The cards are played in turn on a layout representing the
6 holes in any of the remaining positions. For instance, the
first player's first card is "on." He may play this hole "8" (the
holes being 1-2-4-8-16-32) turning that on. Etc. As each card is
played the cards are sorted. With an "off" the cards in the machine
remain; with an "on" those on the needle are returned. After 6 operations
are finished a number remains (more on this later). If because
some cards have already been removed an operation results in only
one card remaining in the proper segment before 6 operations have
been completed, that number is used. If an operation causes
the proper segment to be void the other segment is used.
2, 3, 4, or 6 can play. With 4 or 6 play is in teams. With a
two interest game each side has a layout with 32 numbers. Some
time of combined BINGO and scoring for completing lines with
have to be worked out. With a three interest game use three
different layouts of 32 numbers, some numbers occurring on
two layouts.
Had a new idea for THE BRAIN GAME, my business variation of CINEMA.
Another possible name - ORGANIZATION.
There are 121 cards divided into 13 each of
Chairman of the Board
President
Vice Presidents
Sales Force
Research & Development
Accounting
Secretarial
Clerical
} Each has a number varying from 1 to 25.
The rest of the cards consist of 5 "substitutes" which can
be used instead of one of the personnel cards. 1 is a "top",
one a "middle" and one a "lower" and can be used in place of one
of those grades (Top would be Chairman, Pres., or V.P.s; etc.) These are
counted as 3 away from the required number. Two "substitutes"
(cont. on 3/22)
