FRIDAY 13 MARCH
1970 72nd day - 293 days to come
Rcd. the new rules for ON SETS (including an additional blank
card) and for EQUATIONS from Ruth Patmore. She has me
on the list for a copy of QUERIES 'N THEORIES.
Rcd. a letter from Gary Silver returning my check for $1. It
contained his side of the story concerning Gini Scott
and IDEAS.
Felicia called. She had a letter from Arnold Shapiro which sounded
a little optimistic about the game program. He again said how
pleased he was at getting together Thursday.
One point I forgot to record, Thursday I asked him
what he had meant about the possibility of X using some
games from AGOG which he mentioned in his thank you
letter. What he had in mind was some of their party
pad games. These they buy outright or more usually,
use public domain material, so I wouldn't be interested.
He agreed.
Felicia sent out WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU?
She wants to show INDIAN CHESS to Parker so she asked me for
Bill Dohrmann's name. She wants to play
some games with me. I'll go there Monday at lunch time
for this and to see the rules of the PUZZLEs of 3/11.
She rcd. the rules.
I also said I'd bring ANOTHER.
She said she wanted to discuss some other things.
She rcd. a copy of GAMES TO IMPROVE YOUR CHILD'S ENGLISH (see
3/8) from Simon and Schuster. They are interested in her
opinion as to whether any of the games can be used as
packaged games.
Phil Orbanes called. He told me about a book he saw:-
SERIOUS GAMES by Clark Abt (Viking Press, $5.95).
He saw it in the psychology department at Brentano's. As
well as simulation games he discussed other game ideas,
such as a color game based on forming different colors
by overlapping transparancies. I told him about COLOR SCORE.
He will be seeing Bob Hallowell Monday. He'll call me about
setting a date next week. I suggested Friday. He'll check
that with Bob.
Phil is pretty sure that his games will be done. If Bob doesn't
do them Phil will do them himself, using the royalties
from AQUARIUS 2000. He wants me to write the rules.
He suggests that the original inventor of a game should
get 50% of the royalties. He suggests that I should get
20% for doing the rules. In the case of my games with
my rules he suggests my getting 60%. The remainder will
go to "INFINITY QUEST Corp". Where it can be split up. I
brought up a share for Red Simonsen for doing the pack-
aging. He is going to give Red some criteria to work from
(cont. on 3/12)
