TUESDAY 3 MARCH
1970 62nd day - 303 days to come
To Felicia's office and then to Milton Bradley where Dick Harris
showed us around.
SWORDS AND SHIELDS - The old game TABLUT with the men replaced
with upright swords and shields.
CARDINO - The same game as CARTINO that Lech wrote to me
about. Dick said I could pick one up shortly.
PADDLE POOL - A simple, but good action game. A paddle is mounted
in each corner so that it can swing around and
also move sideways. A ball is released at the
center and object is to get it into the goal in
another corner. When less than 4 play inserts
are provided to block off the unused goal(s).
Dick Harris said he was going to look for the
[crossed out] copy of AGOG I sent to Mel Taft. I
told him that if he couldn't find it I'd send him another copy.
After M.B. Felicia sat in the hall and discussed the game situation. I
told her that through Martin Gardner I was approached by
an agent to prepare some skill games and three with be coming
out. I'll tell her more when I can. (TEMPO, INTERPLAY, ODD OR EVEN)
She took it very calmly. We split up to try and cover the fair.
To Hobbit Toys & Games (after seeing an ad in one of the fair papers).
Charley Parker was there and it was pleasant getting together again.
His new game is RING. The board is as shown on the ad sheet
(in 1970 Ad Clips). Up to 4 can play. Each starts in a corner
and move by throw of 2 dice. Object is to land on center space
by exact count and pick up the "ring of power" and then bring
it back to your corner. If another player can land by exact count
on the player with the ring he takes it. Each time a player
gets the ring, including the first time from the center, he gets a-
nother throw to start getting away. [crossed out] When a
player ends a move on same spaces as an opponent the opponent's
marker is moved one space in either direction. (I am not sure
if this rule applies when the ring is not involved.) Altho completely
luck, it did hold the interest.
There was a mention in a fair publication of a card word game called
CRUMMY RUMMY in room 1005 F.A.B. Went up there but it was
crowded and I didn't see it displayed so I left.
To International Toy Show at Hilton Hotel. At English exhibit saw:-
Waddingtons - spoke to { "David Westnedge"
John Waddington Ltd
Patrick Green
Woodlesford, Leeds, Yorkshire
Great Britain
He told me that until this year they had an arrangement
with Parker not to compete. Now, however, Parker has
bought out an English company (which one?) so
