SATURDAY 28 FEBRUARY
1970 59th day - 306 days to come
Letter came from Bob Engel of Whitman. He'd like to get together
at Felicia's office at 4:00 on Tuesday.
Called Alex Randolph. Then Martin Gardner to see if we can get
together. Martin too busy. Called Alex again and gave him
Martin's number. Martin wi He'll call Martin and then call
me.
Made the "search" deck for SEARCH. Completed it including
rounding the corners.
In evening called Phil Orbanes. Bob Hallowell liked all
of his games, even tho he was sick. He wants to have
from 12 to 18 items by next year and wants us to
supply most of them. He will come here at the end of
next week or during the following week. Phil will call
me as soon as they set a date. Told Phil about meeting
Jerry Goldstein. Phil doesn't think he has much ability.
(cont. from 2/27) [2/27]
[diagram to right of a hexagon divided into additional sections]
hexes with the play of a tile. Diagram shows
one hex completed. This scores 6 points (I be-
lieve), the sum of the points in the hex. (Rough idea.)
BUNDLING (Plan B Corp. - the co. that puts out VECTOR.) This is not really
a game but questionaires that a boy and a girl fill out while
lying on the floor in candlelight. (Rules written humorously.)
Met Frank Armbruster who heard I was there and said that
he has heard so much about me that he was anxious to meet me.
I said that I also have wanted to meet him. Arranged
to have him meet me at my office at 6:30 and come here
for supper.
To Renwal. Spoke to salesman there and explained
about the games:- TAM-BIT, TAKE FIVE, and the others.
He hopes they will go well.
He introduced me to Jerry Goldstein, president of
Allstate, who took my card and said he would get in
touch with me.
Took a catalog of the games.
To Parker. Said hello to Randy Barton who introduced
me to Bill Dohrman, the new V.P. in charge of development.
Spoke to him awhile. Showed him AGOG and he'll check with
Constance Herrick if she received it. If not I told him to
contact me and I'd send another. I told him about Hank
Simmons objection to my thanking Parker for use of their
library. He said it was silly and that he'd be glad to have
it in when I revise for the next edition.
I picked up a catalog at the Press Room & there wasn't
