THURSDAY 26 FEBRUARY
1970 57th day - 308 days to come
Jerry D'Arcey called me at work in the morning. Arranged
for BB and me to meet him at his hotel and he'll take us
to supper.
Thinking of 2 GAME ideas
One is based on the pieces Claude gave me yesterday.
Paint the top surfaces with different colors. Then stack and
unstack them in some specified way. Discovering and
then remembering which pc. has which color is the basis
of the game.
[diagram on right of five truncated rows with various circles in each row]
The other is based on an idea in one of
the patents I have. Marbles of different
colors are drawn at random and player can
choose which of several slots to place
it in. Score for various relationships of
the colors.
Felicia called. Letter from Arnold Shapiro. Will get together
with us next Thursday. Meet at the office & Felicia will take
us to lunch.
He is again interested in looking at games for 6 or more players.
She saw Dick Harris who is Mel Taft's new right hand man
at M.B. He wants to meet me and we will go there together
next Tuesday morning.
Tom Atwater called me and I'll go to his hotel tomorrow morn-
ing. We, including Alex, will have breakfast together. We'll try to
set up a date for the three of us to get together with
Martin Gardner.
Another call from Felicia. Dick Harris mentioned that he saw a
game TAKE FIVE on the West Coast. Must be the one
Lou Wechsel mentioned.
American Home Products (or is it someone else) might be
interested in another GAME made from Connor's HALF AND HALF
cards. If Connor is too busy to work on it would I be willing?
O.K., for a piece of the action.
BB and I met at Jerry D'Arcey's hotel. He took us for supper at
Paris-Brest restaurant. Before and after saw and discussed the
following:-
MARTELLE just didn't work out.
GRAVITY GOLF:- The field is set up as shown.
[Diagram of shapes drawn (tubes), one part labeled "field"]
Each player has a ball and a
set of two tubes. The first
gives a straight shot when the
the ball is dropped thru. The
second can be tilted to cause the ball to lift.
Play is similar to CROQUET. Object is to go thru the 4
tubes and then lift it into the center gadget (which is
