WEDNESDAY 18 FEBRUARY
Ember Day 1970 49th day - 316 days to come
Peter Swift called. He'll come here next Saturday to show me his
dice GAME. (See 2/13).
Brian Blake called. He wants to show someone his "flash cards" based
on Harry Lorrayne's memory system and wants the book as part of the
presentation. He'll pick it up at the office tomorrow.
Sent a $75 check and a short note to Tom Atwater.
Finally rcd. a long letter from Lech Pijanowski. Containing:
BARBICAN board games and rules from a Polish Magazine.
GUIDE TO GAMES - A table of contents of his book.
An application to join N.Y.G.A., and a suggestion for making it I.G.A. (International Game Association)
News about a Czechoslovakian book - POKLADNICE HER, which has rules for 116 world-wide games - over a dozen he doesn't know.
KUNST ALS SPIEL UND SPIEL ALS KUNST - The catalog of an art exhibit based on games as art.
A list of books and games he wants me to get for him as a "5-year cooperation plan." Also what do I want from him?
Comments on almost all the games in AGOG. His son is a PAPER BOXING enthusiast. A group of journalists who are dice addicts have given up HINDENBURG for SOLITAIRE DICE, com-petative version.
Comments and diagrams on some of his game ideas - NOMINATION, DOMINO-WAR GAME, BLACK AND WHITE.
HOLD THAT LINE - a contingency I didn't think of.
MAGELLAN - He mentioned this as a game published in Belgium, a combination of RISK, GOOSE, and a geographical game.
WHO IS THE MURDERER? - A "do it yourself" card game published in Poland.
Sent me the rules of TYCOON, also a record sheet.
(cont. from 2/28) [2/27]
much that looked interesting. I told him I'd be in to look
at the games after Toy Fair. He said the salesmen would
show them to me.
Met Alex and Tom and had lunch together. (Alex paid. Tom
paid for breakfast.) We discussed Alex taking 10% as my
agent for AGOG. Alex didn't think he deserved it but Tom
and I convinced him to take it. He signed the $100 check I
sent to him & gave it to Tom to deposit.
Tried to discuss my relationship to Tom but couldn't keep on the
subject. Tom said I could always call on him for any advice, even tho
he wasn't my agent for a particular game.
Arranged to call Alex tomorrow to see if we can arrange to get
together with Martin Gardner.
(cont. on 2/17)
