WEDNESDAY 21 JANUARY
Stonewall Jackson, Born 1824 1970 21st day - 344 days to come
Rcd. the rules from Jim Rockwell of Stancraft for
TEMPO, INTERPLAY, ODD OR EVEN. Went over them
making a few corrections.
Called Stan Harris with my corrections in the rules of
TAM-BIT, TAKE FIVE, and SNAFU. He'll correct
them on the next run, which means that the copy-
right on TAKE FIVE will be lost due to improper
notice.
(cont. from 1/22) [1/22]
Thinking of 2 unnamed PUZZLE ideas. Have strips of plastic
[sketch of thin rectangle with two squares drawn below, three squares drawn on rectangle]
as shown (very roughly). These are piled
two in one layer, then two in the next
layer at rights angles, etc. Work out
the location of the notches and projections and recesses
so that the whole set can only be piled in one
possible way.
Have a set of cardboard squares - some 10 or 12.
The first one is solid and has six of the spaces colored
with six colors. The others have some spaces cut out
(shown shaded) and from 2 to 4 colored spaces.
[three square 4 x 4 grids drawn with various shaded squares and some numbers spread throughout.]
Etc.
Object is to place all the squares one at a time so that
as each is placed one, and only one, of each color shows.
(cont. from 1/23) [3/2]
discs must be turned to accomplish some specific align-
ment of the faces.
Rcd. a letter from S.K. Howard. He sent address for CROMPTON'S CHESS.
{ George Crompton
[address]
Framingham, Mass.
Called Felicia. Told her about EXECUTIVE DECISION. Meet at her office tomorrow.
[started on 3/2]
