Wednesday 7 January 1970
7th day - 358 days to come
Felicia called. Bob Hubbard said the payment for all projects,
except for the Enjay, would be as follows, based on the
amount of their profit:
$25,000-10% ($2,500)
$50,000-6% ($1,500)
$100,000-4% ($2,000)
$500,000-2% ($8,000)
$20,000,000-1% ($195,000)
($209,000)
I asked whether the % applied in each
increment or whether as soon as a new
amount was reached the % counted for
all money. In other words if their
profit is $30,000 would we get $2,800
or only $1,800. Probably the first is
what they mean, but Felicia will check.
She said I'd pretty much have to take it or leave it.
Others are accepting it and she is doing a lot of business with
them; also she is getting fees from them for consulting work. I said
it was fine if the first interpretation is correct.
As far as Enjay is concerned, I will get $2,500 per game.
On both contracts the games will return to me after 1 year. They
will try to get my name on the games, but in any case no one else's
will be.
Impact will be preparing a cigar promotion using Connor's
PITFALL.
Felicia will be playing games tomorrow with Ruth Shaler in preparation
for Friday's meeting with Bob Engel. I offered to come after work
but they will be playing earlier in the afternoon. Felicia is
proposing Ruth as treasure of I-S.
Jerry Dougherty called. He met Ed Hartman of TWA. He was quite
enthused about GO SEE but has lots of changes he wants to sug-
gest to make it proper for promotional purposes. Jerry it will take
a few hours. We'll get together Friday at Impact after work.
I mentioned Ruth Shaler and asked if she should be
invited. He preferred not. He thinks that if I have to do a lot
of work I should get something for that before we split the
royalties.
He also thinks that if I just don't have time to do another
board they can get professional artists to do it, but would pre-
fer not to spend the money. The fee for a board similar to
the one I gave him would be between $500 & $1000.
He is having a meeting with Enjay Friday and will let me
know what happened.
I asked him if he tried TOTALLY--. He said he had a little
trouble digesting the rules, but he finds reading rules boring
all the time.
Had an idea for a rolling cube GAME. There is a good sized
board divided into a grid with a maze-like pattern formed by
heavy uncrossable lines. Players start with their cube in a
starting space. Move by turning the cube from space to space. Start
with a 1-minute timer and move until time is up or a red side
is turned. Race to a series of objectives. (Rough idea.)
