THURSDAY 25 DECEMBER 1969
Christmas Day
359th day - 6 days to come
Played COUNTERPOINT with Ricki. Beat him the first game. The second was very close when we had to call it because of snow (he had to go home). It plays great now.
Gave CHICKEN OR EGGHEAD OR CHICKEN and one of my copies of NORTHWEST PASSAGE to Elliot.
Called Arthur. Spoke to him and Wald. They have some new HIGH DECK games, also a Race GAME he wants to show me. Said I'd be there in a few weeks.

There are various irrigation projects which can be completed which increase the harvests. Players must deal with each other to agree on sharing of the costs.
If three players agree that the emporer is unjust, or taxes to high, or hasn't built the proper public works they can start a revolution. Then the richest, the most powerful, the most popular, or a combination of these, becomes the emporer.
If one player becomes greedy and accumulates grain and "realia" another player can move into this province and take it over.
There are 12 spaces represe on which the "great wall" is to be built and the players in whose provinces these occur (official & scholar) must negotiate with the emperor on the expense of building them.
There is no indication on how the game ends, except that the "great wall" and certain irrigation projects must be completed before it can end.
Players whose population have has increased can bring new land under cultivation.
(This is a rough, but fairly complete idea of the game. It seems
