SATURDAY 20 DECEMBER 1969
Ember Day
354th day - 11 days to come
wrote copy for SNAFU, TAKE 5, and TAM-BIT. BB typed it and I mailed it to Stan Harris.
Wrote Season's Greetings cards with notes to Father Daniel, Frank Thibault, Jerry D'Arcey, & Warren Buell.
Played two games of VENTURE with BB, Annette & Phil. The new rules added by 3M worked fine. Actually it added more decisions & gave players behind a chance to catch up.
Played a little of the new COUNTERPOINT. Very good but we called it off because of the hour.
Claude called during day. He saw PENETRATION & SPECULATION for $1.49 each at Macy's. At Gimbel's children's dept. he saw HANKY PANKY, a variation of GO-MOKU. He didn't remember the details.
Yesterday's Post had a story of about CHESS hustlers. (Filed in "Articles from Periodicals.")
(cont. from 12/24) [12/24]
Rcd. a letter from William Elder of ACO. FITTING AND PROPER is still under evaluation.
He saw AGOG prominently and attractively displayed. He congratulated me and thanked me for including FACULTY CARDS.
Bought the Dec. SCIENTIFIC AMERICA. My name is mentioned in connection with last month's PATTERNS puzzle.
Bought a paperback copy of ABBOTT'S NEW CARD GAMES to send to Haar Hoolim.
About 12:30 went to Jim Dunnigan's bldg. to reproduce MALÉ CARLO and the PACE game article. He wasn't downstairs and BB didn't want to wait.
Called him when I got home. He had been upstairs running off the rat ad rate schedule for S&T. He'll mail it to me. Edi told him that there was a large box, which might be the DYNASTY game. He'll call me Friday and let me know. If it is I'll get to his house to try it and then will go to his bldg. to reproduce the book.
Saw Michelle. Judy Kornblum was in today. Said something about AGOG. Michelle not sure but thinks I should call her. (See 8/26.)
