Monday 3 November 1969
307th day - 58 days to come
Thinking about 3 and 4 hand COUNTERPOINT.
With 3: First player uses any two colors, but cannot
score. 2'nd player chooses two of the remaining colors. The
third player uses the fifth color and one, of his choice,
from the player on his left. Then each, in turn, uses the
color he has in front of him plus one taken from the
player on his right. When a player completes a scoring
configuration, the player on his right scores the amount.
When a player [crossout] reaches 50 points the game is over.
The one with the lowest score wins. (Didn't try out yet.)
With 4: First player uses any two colors, but cannot score,
2nd player chooses two of the remaining colors. The
third player uses the fifth color and one, of his choice,
from his partner (the first player). The fourth player
either takes two from his partner or one from his partner
and one from the player's right hand opponent. As the game
progresses when it as a player's turn and he has a chip in
front[?] of him he must use it and one from his partner.
If he doesn't have a chip he can have the choice similar to
the 4th player (above). When a player scores or removes
a pc. from a scoring combination he piles the chips and his
partner only can choose one. (Tried this a little and it seems
too confining. It is better to play the 4-hand same as 2-hand.)
Called Diane Jaust to ask if she would like repros of the
SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN article. Her news dealer told her it
would be available tomorrow. She would like a repro of
Miriam's review. Will send her one tomorrow.
Felicia called. Is writing to Bill Caruson about something
else. Decided to tell him that if they definitely want to
use SPELLBINDER for the following year we could wait.
If not we'd like to show it to others.
Sold books to Clem, Leonard, Bob Komstadt, Ray, and Ken Hiller
