Tuesday 28 October 1969
Sts. Simon and Jude, Apostles 301st day - 64 days to come
Spoke to Felicia made date to play ORBIT with her Thursday. Later she
called BB and told her that 3 [illegible crossed out] men from an organization using
games for promotional purposes would be there and for BB to get me not
to wear a medallion.
Rcd. the 10 books - A GAMUT OF GAMES - Fay Hertog sent me. These were
in good condition.
Rcd. the game ULCERS; and a letter from Haar Hoolim.
Called Claude and he decided to come over late in the evening.
Claude told me of his ideas for reworking EGGHEAD POKER in accord-
ance with Jules Cooper's criticism that it gets to be a scramble and
no one really sees what he is doing. He will eliminate the Poker
motif. Each player will have 3 holes on the board: a single, a
double, and a triple. Balls are put on the board one at a
time and moved till they get into one of the holes. The balls
have different values, including some minus. After all
the balls (less than the number of holes) are used the score
is counted. Value on ball x value of hole gives score for that
ball.
We discussed SAMMY THE SWINGING DRAGON but didn't really
accomplish much.
He gave me a listing of special free libraries in New
York (From New York Magazine). Filed in "Library Misc. Box."
Before & during Claude's visit copied the diagrams from
the slides Connor sent to illustrate his game ORBIT.
Gave Claude 6 purple chips (7/8" size).
We played part of a game of COUNTERPOINT. Used the rule that
the first player switches two pcs. but is not allowed to score on
his first move. That worked O.K. but the game got rather dull as
we both removed a pc. from 1 or 2 scoring combinations
and in the next move put them back for a score. Later thought
of the rule that when a player removes a pc. from 1 or
2 scoring combinations he must pile the two chips and in his
next turn cannot use both of them, similar to when a player scores.
Gave Claude the issue of PACE Magazine with POWER in it.
