Friday 24 October 1969
United Nations Day 297th day - 68 days to come
Felicia called. Arnold Shapiro wrote that he solved the puzzle -
THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS. He found that all 4 colors have the
same solution and thinks they should be different. Another
evaluator is working on the game and a report should be com-
ing soon. We agreed that I'll write to Arnold with my ideas in
setting up the puzzle.
She has some strategy games which I will see when I go
there next week.
Brentanos tell her that the 3M games are going great.
Rcd. the statement from Ideal on CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN.
Another 64¢ in the hole.
Rcd. a card from "Game-of-the-Month Club" - N.Y. They are
flooded and they'll send me a gift and brochure with
41 games listed in a few weeks.
Rcd. the October & November 1969 issues of PANZERFAUST.
Miriam Frederick gave BB a copy of the (Co-op) City News
with her review of A GAMUT OF GAMES. Quite well written.
Met Frank Thibault at 200 Fifth Ave. and we down to 17th St.
and he treated me to lunch. Here for supper and then
we discussed games - except for time when Albert Field was
here. Sold him one set of DOUBLE CROSS cards, an old set of
pornographic cards, and a set of Sears (Roebuck) cards with their
name on the ace - for $7.50. Gave him a panel of the
card wall paper Claude had given me. (All this to Albert Field.)
Frank Thibault told me about the following.
VEXATION:- a combination of MONOPOLY and AGGRAVATION. 3M is
considering it for their "Family Line." They also mentioned
when he was there that BAZAAR might also be put into that
line. Frank said the he wrote to THE ARITHMETIC TEACHER
about BAZAAR. They wrote him that they were not doing an
article on teaching games this October. Also on BAZAAR; his
children were crazy about it at first, but then dropped it.
NITTY-GRITTY:- There are a considerable number of small
pieces of two shapes- "nitties" and "gritties"- and a number of dif-
ferent colors. There are plastic rings in 5 sizes. The
pcs. are thrown on a table and then players take turns
placing a ring around a group of pcs. (The rules for
what belongs to whom when one ring is inside another are not
cleared up yet by Frank). When all the rings are placed
each player takes his pieces and scores for different com-
binations of colors and shapes. (He tried to show it to Lynn
Pressman and she wouldn't take the time to look. Lakeside and
Transogram now are looking at it.)
SQUIGGLE:- (This is the one 3M almost did. Lakeside is looking at
it now.) It is played on a quadrille board, about
