MONDAY 20 OCTOBER
1969 293rd day - 72 days to come
Roger Elson of Hasbro called he has copies of THE WORLD OF WALL STREET
and MATING GAME. I can pick them up whenever I want. He can't
get his hand on a copy of VEGAS at present.
Called Felicia & discussed Connor's ORBIT. Said that I would try to make
up a rough set so that we can try it before having Connor go to the
expense of shipping his model.
I pointed out the similarity in equipment between ORBIT and
my THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS. This reminded Felicia that she had spoken
to Arnold Shapiro of X and then rcd. a letter confirming the conver-
sation. They think that THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS is an interesting idea
but that there is something wrong with it. They are working on it.
I wondered if they would ever get going or if they were just
hedging in case they decide they do want to go in the game business.
Felicia thinks it is mainly the packaging that is holding them up.
Called Diane Jaust. Supposed to call back but didn't.
Started getting some new ideas for DRILL FOR OIL. Maybe I'll get it
now.
Called Jim Dunnigan. He just sent me galleys of my article for
S & T. I have to remove 43 lines.
Jim rcd. two copies A GAMUT OF GAMES. Phil Orbanes took one.
He showed it to Hallowell of BRIDGEVERYONE who has some
connection with Allstate, tho Jim doesn't know just what.
The other one Jim gave to Al Nofi, who is going to do the
review. I told Jim I'd give him one.
Jim liked the book.
Jim suggested sending two copies to Tom Shaw of A-H
(one for Erick Dot). Jim is sure that Tom will write a review
for THE GENERAL, especially since so many A-H games are
included in the book.
Jim has signed a contract to do LUFTWAFFE for A-H. He
is still dickering with Tom Shaw. Once he gets squared away
he will see that Tom sends me the new games I don't
have,
Jim has all, or almost all, copies of THE GENERAL.
Eventually I'll get repros of them and Jim will try to
get me a lifetime subscription, like he has.
Jim had the final feedback from the issue with my column. It did
the worst of all the articles - 2.89 on a scale 1 high and 5 low.
This was on interest. In usefulness it was even lower.
Read Jim the review on S & T and their liking CRETE
and my column.
Told Jim that I hadn't had time to list the names of
the people who ordered FOCUS. Told him I'd list them for his use
but that I didn't think I'd take the time to prepare a flyer
for myself. He thinks I ought to do it and suggested November.
