THURSDAY 16 OCTOBER 1969
U. S. Mint Established 1786
289th day - 76 days to come
Diane Jaust called. The pictures had gone astray. Later they
were located at the photographers.
Spoke to Fabio after two calls and he called me back. Told
him about the bill and that I think many of the changes
were because Barbara didn't follow thru. He assured me
that he would take care of it, just to send him a letter with
the information.
He said that it is just about a sure thing that science
Book of the Month with take A GAMUT OF GAMES. But it
is, he said, a small deal - only several thousand copies.
Oct. TOYS & NOVELTIES came. Nothing of interest.
Called Tom Atwater. First his office & then his home. Asked
about Stancraft. The contract for ISHIDO & CASTILLE
is signed, although they haven't rcd. the advance yet.
Alex wanted to throw in DOZO which (I believe) is played
on the same board as ISHIDO and they are doing that,
although Tom felt they should get extra money for it.
He sent my contract, with my changes, back to Jim Rockwell
but hasn't heard from him. He'll contact him again.
He hasn't had a chance to try the new version of TEMPO yet.
I asked him if he knew anything about getting foundation
grants. He doesn't know specifically but he thinks that
publications are even more important than degrees and that
my books and games would carry a lot of weight. He is
willing to give me a recommendation and can get me recomendation
from the president of a college & others.
Claude called. He has an appointment tomorrow with Jules
Cooper @ Ideal. He will bring him SAMMY THE SWINGING DRAGON & EGGHEAD POKER.
I asked him to give Jules my regards und tell him that
the book was out.
Anne told me that A GAMUT OF GAMES, is most interesting
and that Jaquie couldn't put it down.
Rcd. a picture of A GAMUT OF GAMES. from Sally that
they are using in their ads. Looks good, but a little
skinny.
When talking to Fabio he said that he had received sent a
copy of the book to Alex Randolph but had not rcd. an acknowledgment
