Monday 13 October 1969
286th day - 79 days to come
Diane Jaust called. She asked for the address of THE GAMESLETTER.
Told her I'd call tomorrow. She also asked about something
called "Games Continuation" but I told her that [duplicate word] one didn't
come from me. She'll check on it and will let me know what it
is if she finds out.
I told her about THE JOURNAL OF RECREATIONAL MATHEMATICS.
I mentioned colleges and she said she that she had contacted the publisher
of [words crossed out] "University Review" which is sent to most of
the college stores. His partner is a game nut and he passed the copy
of A GAMUT OF GAMES to him. Diane is sure we'll get a good re-
view.
While talking I thought of RECREATION, the magazine of
the National Recreation Association. She was interested.
We decided to get together next week and go over her lists.
Maybe some new ideas will come to me.
Later thought of [crossout] THE ARITHMETIC TEACHER. Will tell her
tomorrow.
When talking about colleges Diane mentioned that when it is in
paperback it will do better than the hard cover. I asked her if it
was definite that it would be in paperback. She said that
she didn't have any information but she felt sure it is the kind
of book that will be in paperback.
I asked her if it would be possible to get copies of the reviews
when she gets them. She said they do that automatically.
Called Sally Kovalchick. Asked her about ad material on
A GAMUT OF GAMES. She checked. Nothing yet, but she is sending
me a catalog. [crossout] She expects a picture of the book soon
and will send me a print as soon as she gets it.
I asked about the bill for the 20 copies of the book
I received. Send it to her and she'll have it charged a-
gainst my future royalties.
I mentioned that I hadn't rcd. my author's copies. If
I don't get them by beginning of next week, let her know.
The October issue of the INTERNATIONAL WARGAMER came.
It had a complete game in a supplement - VICKSBURG.
Called Jerry D'Arcey in California but got an answering
service. Gave her a message:- Book is out and will send
copies to him and Frank Thibault as soon as I can.
Asked what they are working on? How is JUG-A-LUG with
Parker? Is Frank coming to Buffalo? Did Jerry check
on Richard Moon? Did Frank write to THE ARITHMETIC TEACHER
about BAZAAR?
Arthur called. Arranged to go there Friday and bring copies
of A GAMUT OF GAMES. He has [duplicate words] some interesting
things to show me.
