THURSDAY 9 OCTOBER
1969 282nd day - 83 days to come
Sent in the coupon the GAME-OF-THE-MONTH-CLUB Inc. (NY) in
New York.
Called Roger Elson at Hasbro. They are having difficulty
getting sample copies from the factory. He will try to
get THE WORLD OF WALL STREET, MATING GAME, and VEGAS
and when he does he will contact me.
Called Bill Caruson in St. Paul.
Told him Felicia was moving.
Discussed SPELLBINDER. He wasn't aware that a contract
was signed on it. He will try to get together with Will
Erickson on it when Will is in town, which he rarely is.
Tho Will has no connection with the game program now.
He definitely would like to see other card games
and thinks TRIAD sounds very interesting.
He rcd. the copy of STRATEGY & TACTICS and thinks it
looks interesting, altho he hasn't had a chance to study
it yet.
I told him I will soon be sending him A GAMUT OF GAMES.
He will be looking forward to seeing it.
I asked him about extra copies of MONAD & VENTURE
and he said he would send them to me.
I asked about EXECUTIVE DECISION. They are still costing
it, and they did get my suggestion on eliminating the special
die. The legal department is afraid of the name since
Milton Bradley had had a game COMMAND DECISION. I said
that perhaps it was Transogram (which I later checked
and found that the name was STRATEGIC COMMAND).
(I also looked for COMMAND DECISION under M.B. and couldn't
find it from 1961 on.)
He didn't know anything about the status of ANOTHER and
Kathy Brooks wasn't at her desk to ask.
Felicia called later and I told her about my talk with Bill.
Met Claude at Gimbel's adult game dept. He was talking to
the saleswoman and introduced me as the inventor of ACQUIRE.
She was impressed and more so when I mentioned BAZAAR.
They don't have MONAD and VENTURE yet, but the buyer
who stopped by said they are on order.
Gave Claude a copy of A GAMUT OF GAMES and he showed
that to her also.
Saw the following:-
EXECUTIVE BUILDING BLOCKS (Benjor). It is similar to BLOCKHEAD.
WORDMASTER (Lowe) New name for WHIRL-A-WORD (see 3/5/69)
7 balls are used. (10 are supplied with the game).
HELMSMAN (Triang). On sale for $3. I have a copy already.
THE SIR FRANCES CHICHESTER GAME (Triang). Also on sale for
$3 and I bought a copy.
