FRIDAY 3 OCTOBER 1969
St.Thomas
276th day - 89 days to come
Called Bernie Newman. Told him that my agent said that the company
that owned Ed-U-Cards has been taken over by a still
bigger company. He said that a very large company and a medium
sized one were bidding for ESR but nothing was definite
settled yet. If those two fall thru then they will have a chance.
Things should come to a head in a week or two. He will definitely
keep me informed. I asked and he told me that Shelly rcd. the repro
of my jacket. I told him that he coiuld show it at will now,
without contacting me first.
Rcd. Sept. issue of NOST-ALGIA (No. 113).
Dale wanted to go to Jim's bldg. after midnight to reproduce
a geology work book, but she couldn't get a
copy as originally planned. I called Jim to tell him we
weren't coming.
Jim rcd. my column and thought it was good. He thinks
he can just squeeze it on three pages.
He has some ideas for going about getting review copies
of books and games (a "fringe benefit" for me). I'll have
to follow up with him on this.
Asked him if he knew anything about getting a foundation
grant. He knows a girl who worked for the Ford Foundation.
He'll contact her (if I remind him after his work load has eased off).
Jim wants to send out an S & T brochure to the people
BB called who ordered the FOCUS booklet from me. He suggests
a flyer for my book be included with it. He thinks Random
House probably has some kind of catalog sheet or glossy they
send to publications. If I get a copy he can get it off-set
for me. I'll check with Barbara.
BB called Barbara about Miriam Fredericks (see 10/2). Barbara
seemed to think we were trying to get a free book for
Miriam. She said that they sent out loads of books
to publications and it is up to them to assign the a
reviewer to do a review if they want one. Also Miriam
doesn't have any particular qualifications to do a review.
When I spoke ti Jim I asked about the material from
CONFRONTATION (the new version) he took from me. He said he'd
reproduce it and got it back to me. It's important to keep the "archives" complete.
