THURSDAY 28 AUGUST
1969 240th day - 125 days to come
Tom Atwater called me yesterday just after I left the office.
I called him but he was on the phone. He called me back,
He had a letter from Jim Rockwell saying that believe it
or not Alex' contract is in the final stages of prepar-
ation. Nothing about me. Tom wonders what we should
do about Jim and my games. I said that it was just
about too late to make Martin's column. I told him about
my changes in TEMPO and we agreed that I'd get out
a set of the rules to Jim and one to him.
I asked him about HAGGLE. The one that put up
the money for MEM wants to concentrate on that game.
Tom & Anatole are trying to talk Armbruster (of
INSTANT INSANITY) into putting it out. They are offer-
ing him an exclusive (?) for sometime for the whole
country and a continual one for the west coast.
Tom promised to send me the rules for HAGGLE.
Two copies (one for Claude) of the September PACE
Magazine came.

Rcd. the following from Donald Miller of NFFF (no letter):-
The Gamesman #2
The Gamesman #3
Ye Faerie Chesseman #1
Ye Faerie Chesseman #2
JETAN rulesheet
Jerry D'Arcey called me at work and then drove here from
Kennedy. Discussed during evening:-
JUG-A-LUG :- This was supposed to have been sold to Lakeside,
but he didn't get his money. Then one day he
called to see why; Hank Simmons told him that the
reason was because they were returning it. Jerry
wrote to Preston Geis (who is the president of Leisure
Dynamics which has taken over Lakeside. He originally
came from General Mills and then had something to do
with Parker) complaining about Hank Simmons and
saying he was vindictive. He received conciliatory letters
from both Hank and Geis.
Parker now has the game and they are quite interested.
KUFU - Parker is interested in this again, particularly if
they can get the 4 sided figures as cheaply as Jerry says
they can from Japan. Jerry owns the die for forming them.
UPTIGHT - Jerry, BB, and I played. The new equipment
consists of "hands" mounted on sticks for picking up the
pieces and a "foot" for each player which is used in-
stead of the net for passing over. The pcs. consist
of three each of the shapes
shown, all the same length.
[drawing of circle, square, triangle, and pentagon]
