Sunday 24 August 1969
St. Bartholomew, Apostle 236th day - 129 days to come
Twelfth Sunday after Trinity
Played TEMPO on the 6x5 board with BB (see 8/22).
Worked very well.
Sent a letter to Charles Wells enclosing $1.00 to con-
tinue of the revision mailing list for PARLEMENT. Also a
personal letter telling him that his game is reviewed in
A GAMUT OF GAMES.
Sent a letter to NOST asking if I could join, primarily to
receive their publications.
Started working on a new set of cards for the proprietary
version of TRIAD.
(cont. from 8/26) [8/26]
call me then or Friday.
Rcd. a letter from Dr. Berg (see 8/13). He'll be in the
Bronx some Thursday in Sept. or Oct. and will call me
in advance.
Rcd. a very pleasant letter from Mel Taft in answer to
my letter to him.
Tony D'Ambra called. He sold POLKA-DICE (see 1968) to
Cadaco. They offered him either $10,000 or a contract
with 2 1/2% for first 20,000, 5% for next 50,000, and 7 1/2%
thereafter. Asked my opinion and I said the royalty
contract was a very good one. When he gets the contract he
will bring it to me to look at.
In decided [deciding] who to show his games to he decided on Cadaco
because they have TRIPOLEY and MICHIGAN RUMMY and
he thought they might be partial to gambling games. He
originally spoke to Dan Monihan who sent the game
to Chicago. He then was told to call Chicago collect and
spoke to Douglas Bolton.
When Bolton said that he had to check out the name and
if the game had been done before. Tony said he had a
friend who could tell them all that. Bolton asked if it was
Sid Sackson. He also asked if I had helped with figuring the
odds. Tony said that I had given him some suggestions. They
are going to change a few of the odds.
Tony thanked me for my help.
Sent a $5 check for a year's [crossout] membership
in the International Federation of Wargaming, so as to get
their publications,
