THURSDAY 7 AUGUST
1969 219th day - 146 days to come
Felicia called and read me a letter from Bob Claude. They are return-
ing DIGIT because they had another number GAME
which they received a little sooner and which they think is a
little better. However if it doesn't do well in the test
marketing they will definitely want to look at DIGIT again
if it hasn't been sold by then. They definitely want to
look at other card games that are different. This was in
answer to a letter Felicia sent to him after his call.
I told Felicia about my letter to Bob and she said that
I should keep her informed (after all, she started me
with 3M). I agreed and said I'd give her a copy of any letter
I send to them.
Felicia asked for suggestions about other places for DIGIT. I sug-
gested X and she said she'd send it to them after we play
it.
She is doing a folder again this year for a group of toy
stores. She talked them into picturing VENTURE & ACQUIRE and
mentioning BAZAAR. Couldn't get them to allow even a mention
of HIGH BID.
Mike Abrams called from California (from his work). Wanted me to re-
turn SUCCESSION and suggested sending it collect. Told him
I'd send it soon.
He has found a group of people interested in games
and they may publish some. I asked him to keep me
informed.
I asked him about Jerry D'Arcey and he said he couldn't
find a telephone number for him.
His address at present:
{Mike Abrams
[address]
San Francisco, Cal. 94123
After work to Allstate to meet with Phil & Gaberiel Frank.
He asked me some questions about what I knew about games
and I told him the fields, such as children's and non-game
games in which I didn't know everything.
He asked my fee and I said that for consulting work
I have been getting $10 an hour from Renwal but have been
thinking of raising it to $12. He said that sounded reason-
able.
I said that for games I make up myself I want 5%
with no cut-off. He said they'd like to look at anything I have
to show.
However at present they are working on the Astronomy
gadget (which Phil showed me). Frank thinks that per-
haps he will write up the instructions and then pay me
to check them.
Phil told me before that the next project will be a
passtime based on dreams.
