MONDAY 4 AUGUST 1969
216th day - 149 days to come
Felicia called me about a letter from Keith Tuggle which I rcd.
at home. They like EXECUTIVE DECISION and the problem
now is costing it. Want 90 days to cost it out.
I told Felicia about writing to Keith yesterday.
In evening looked at the gane to see if I could reduce
the number of components. The die for fluctuation in the
starting position seems expendable.
Ed Raskin pickedup SUBWAY at the office.
BB typed the letters I wrote yesterday.
Jim Dunnigan called. We went over the material on me and
we made some corrections.
He has some material on non-war games from Jared
Johnson (a youngster in Georgia) which he will get to me.
He said that Allstate had decided to have games developed for salaries
and not to give royalties.
Jim, Phil, Red Simonsen, & I will get together Wednesday in Madison
Sq. Park to discuss "Infinity Corp." The object is to present a complete
package : game, art work, and marketing data.
(cont. from 8/7)[8/7]
After the meeting with Frank Phil told me thay Allstate
is freezing the following games: CONGLOMERATE, ACTION,
INFINITY, CAR*TEL (the original BRIDGE imitation and not the
new Feudal version, which Jim can market under a new name.)
THE MONEY GAME and CONFRONTATION are being released to
Jim since he was listed as the inventor.
I told Phil that I couldn't understand his rules for
CAR*TEL and he said that he had knocked them out in a
half hour.
We both agreed that in ACTION he should only keep the
series of "chain reaction" variations.
Lech's book PODROZE W KRAINIE GIER came for Martin Gardner,
with a signed statement.
BB, Dale, Joe, & I played SPECTRUM. Joe, with some help
from me, won.
At one point all the bases were on the field and none
of the 4 in line with Dale's next size piece could receive it.
Later thought of the following rule to avoid this situation.
When all the bases are on the field a move can consist
of switching two towers in the same line and, naturally
putting both onto spaces which are permitted to receive
the base.
