WEDNESDAY 23 JULY 1969
204th day - 161 days to come
Gave Lech's book to Claude & told him to send BIG FUNERAL.
The book had a written inscription to Claude.
Claude amd I to Toy City. I bought AVANTE.
saw SCARNE DICE. Played with 5 special dice having
the following faces: 1, 2, 3, 6, dead, dead. He advertises
40 games played with them. Some appeared to be based on
BLACK JACK, POKER, etc. but the bulk of them are
variations of the following idea: - Each player in turn throws the
five dice. If there are no dead faces he scores the total
of all the faces plus a bonus, if any. (see below).
If he throws one or more dead faces these are put
aside and the remaining dice thrown again. Etc. until all
are dead or a throw with no dead comes. A player may
continue after making a score by throwing again and if
no deads show up he adds the scores. This can be continued
as desired, but a dead wipes out all previous scores in
that turn. Each player has 7 turns and high score
total score wins.
Bonuses (these are only approximate I am sure) ; -
5 of a kind - 50
4 of a kind - 40
Full house - - 30
3 of a kind - - 20
2 pair - - - 20
1 pair - - - 10
4 dead faces - - - 25
(selling price was about $6.50,)
While we were out Phil Orbanes called. He'll come Friday.
Claude gave me a clipping a Joyce Brothers on
column on who plays adult games. I'll get repros and
get it back to him.
