TUESDAY 22 JULY
1969 203rd day - 162 days to come
Stan Harris called. Specifically to ask me if he had given me
SWAP-PORTUNITY & LUCKY ME to evaluate. The inventer is
asking about them and Stan doesn't think he ever saw them,
but he isn't sure. I know I didn't.
He asked me if I knew HYPER-SPACE. Calhamer has contacted
them about their putting it out. I told him that I thought it
looked like an excellent game and that I'd try to get a chance
to play it over the weekend. I also suggested that if they
did put it out they could put Calhamer's name on the box, since
he was known for DIPLOMACY.
Mrs. Peña, who did SNAFU was in town to visit Stan. She
doesn't speak English (being a Cuban refugee) but her brother
was along & does. When he heard that I do evaluation work for
Renwal he said that he has read about me and has played
my games, and thinks they are the greatest. They have a
group in Florida who plays games, those that Mrs. Peña (who
is a widow) makes up and others. He would like to meet
me. (I said I'd like to meet him next time he is in town.)
Stan has a new batch of GAMEs from Mrs. Peña and
another one called PIRATE'S WALK, which uses simple
multiplication, and after they screen them he will probably
send some for me to evaluate.
He is almost positive that once the costing is done they
will be doing AIRLINE. They have gotten a good price from
Japan (I think) for small markers in plastic boxes.
Felicia called. She had the figures from 3M, but not the
check, the Larry's and Goldschmith's games had the check
sent directly to her for her cut. (I'll probably have to
write to Will again.)

We hope that the reason for the poor showing of the
card games is delay in getting them to the stores. Next
quarter should tell the story.
All the things Felicia showed to Schaper and Playskool
(MB) bounded. PITFALL, however, is still alive.
Rcd. a copy of PODROZE W KRAINIE GIER from Lech to give
to Claude.
Another letter from Haar with a repro of a letter to him
from Angela Dunn who does a series on puzzles for
Litton Industries in "Aviation Week" Magazine - titled "Problematical
Recreations." More on his game DISTANCE.
