FRIDAY 11 JULY
1969 192nd day - 173 days to come
Rcd. a letter from Martin Gardner with praise of the book
and a wonderful statement which can be used as we
see fit. Also enclosed the letter from Alick Elithorn about
HALMA and other things.
Rcd. a letter from Professor Wm. L. Schaaf who is preparing a
"Bibliography of Recreational Mathematics." Martin Gardner told
him of A GAMUT OF GAMES and he wants information about it
so he can include it. Sent a self-addressed stamped en-
velope.
Barbara called with a question about the FOCUS copyright.
Told her of the funeral. Fabio called back a little later
with his condolances. Told them both about Martin's statement
and they were very pleased with it.
Phil Orbanes called. Renwal is so far advanced with TAM-BIT and the
others that "Learning Aid Group" will not try to stop them. Pos-
sibly they will eventually interegrated into the major line, at an
upgraded price & quality.
Made date for next Friday night for Phil & his wife to come here.
Called Renwal to talk to Stan Harris. Out sick & his new phone,
after moving, is not connected yet.
Called John Geiger's number a few time. No answer.
Felicia called. She called Constance Herrick at Parker. She, too,
was shocked at Hank Simmons' sudden departure. Things are not
settled down yet, but for the present Randy Barton is taking
over Hank's duties.
In a previous call Felicia told me that she tried to check
at Lakeside whether Hank was going there. Her contacts there
hadn't heard anything about it.
