WEDNESDAY 18 JUNE
1969 169th day - 196 days to come
Barbara called. Wanted a repro of the SLAM copyright. (Got it
out of vault.) Told her of talk with Martin Gardner and
we'll try to get him the book as soon as possible.
Rcd. a letter from Lech Pijanowski. He picked up a copy of
ENCYCLOPÄDIE DER SPIELE for me. (I have it.)
PROFESSIONAL POLITICIAN is not a game but a gag from Mad
Magazine.
Sent me the rules for and a description of CARTINO.
He is sending a copy of PODROZE W KRAINIE GIER to me for Claude.
Rcd. a package from Warren Buell with a letter and the following:
Repros of part of CONTRACT BRIDGE FOR THREE by George S. Coffin
(which I already have).
KRIEGSSPIEL IV2 - a small game to be played on a computer.
Several advertisements for books and several clippings
from magazines and newspapers. (Including the one
from Business Week which I already have.)
To Renwal with BB. Discussed SEQUENCE. Irv suggested the
name TAKE-5 which was fine with BB and me. I men-
tioned that there was a game TAKE-12 (Flipping over
numbers according to the total on two dice.) Irv said it
wouldn't matter. Lubow wanted it reduced to 4 players and
41 pieces. I objected. I suggested the idea of countries
as a theme. Irv didn't care for it. I showed them
POTENTIAL but Irv didn't want a game with scoring by
pencil. (Children don't go for it.) We left it that I would
think of a theme and would consider reducing the game
to 4 players.
After Irv left we talked to Stan. He had to return
turn over the art work for TAM-BIT to the printer. We
added the clause on quarterly payments to the con-
tract and I will have it witnessed tomorrow & send it
to him.
AIRLINE is still being costed.
Spoke to Arthur. I'll call him tomorrow with a decision
whether I'll be there this Friday.
Called Jim Dunnigan and told him about tonight.
He says that Phil is now working for "Learning Aid Group"
as a marketing assistant. It is not sure whether they
will go in for games (tho Phil is sure they will). If they
do it will be big.
Renwal will be stopped from publishing games. The showdown
should come in two or three weeks when L.A.G. stops the
money.
Jim is getting a release from Renwal to do two games for
A.H. (Irv mentioned that he would send it out tomorrow.)
He is giving Chris Wagner half the royalties of
