MONDAY 26 MAY
Monday in Whitsun Week 1969 146th day - 219 days to come
Bought cardboard in Cross County. Got a 10% professional
discount when the salesman assumed I made a living from
inventing games.
Called Barbara about the Trade Marks. She checked with the
RCA lawyer, He said it was definitely not required. I looked
through a number of articles from periodicals. They never
used them.
The proofs will be ready by Wednesday and she'll send
them to my office by messenger.
I brought up the matter of getting a set to Martin
Gardner, for his column and for submittion to the Science
Book of the Month Club. Decided to get him zeroxes after
the pages are dummied.
Rest of day and evening working on rules of SNAFU
and almost got them finished.
John Geiger called. Invited us to visit him. Told him to-
wards the end of June. He is going ahead with various
games in his line and they are selling moderately well according
to Gary & Reidel. He will send me copies of the various
things as they come out, or possibly the rules and enough
equipment to play all of them. Or possibly I'll pick them up
when we visit there. [His phone [phone number here].]
Ordered COMPUTER GAMES (see 5/25).
(cont. from 5/27) [5/27]
He wants to get a release from Phil Orbanes to do two games for
A.H. - LUFTWAFFE and ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR 2. However Tom Shaw hasn't
completely decided about the games. Jim will give him another two
week to come across with a contract, or forget the whole
thing. Jim will also try to get the new A.H. games for me and
to find out if Tom Shaw will want to look at my games in July.
Chris is giving up STRATEGY & TACTICS. Two men from Chicago may
be taking it over. Jim knows them slightly. He will try to meet with them
in the next few weeks and find out what they have in mind. Jim said he
would tell them that they couldn't use his material unless they use my column.
I told him not to force them in that way.
Jim wants to take my copy of CONFRONTATION to work on the military
verison. He'll pick it up Thursday.
Jim gave me Chris Wagner's phone number. [phone number here]. He is only home
on the weekends.
Jim has some information about a symposium on learning uses of
gaming in a college. Will bring it Thursday.
Arthur called during evening. He dropped the release form for CUPS in some
(cont. on 5/25)
