TUESDAY 13 MAY 1969
Rogation Day
133rd day - 232 days to come
Barbara Francis called to say that she had sent out the copyright
material to me.
Felicia called. An inventor who showed games to Angelo
Longo of S & R, and had them rejected (he is only allowed
to take 3 outside games a year) is coming tomorrow
(Longo will send those to her who are not "nuts") and would
I like to come. Probably.
Another call. M.B. is interested in a space game. Thinking
of my SOLAR SYSTEM and the GAME where players can
choose their paths through the planets, paying landing rights,
which can be changed by the owner (have notes on this).
Couldn't possibly get either ready by next week.
Saw Michelle at lunch. She'd love to have a NYGA meeting
next Wednesday.
Called Arthur. He'll come. Doubtful whether Wald will since his
wife works on Wednesday evenings.
They have a new approach to POWER but I'll have to go there
to see it. He will show some new HIGH DECK games at NYGA.
Phil Orbanes called. Jim Dunnigan told him that the NBC games
were now open knowledge and he asked me about them. Told
him what I knew.
Phil Orbanes has conducted an extensive market at thru
his school work. His findings indicate that the NBC games
shouldn't hurt the 3M games. A luxury item is not heard hurt
by a cheaper imitation.
He and Ceyce have discovered that Renwal's distribution
system is really very poor and they have decided to
set up an entirely independent company for Phil. They are
going to take their time getting started. One project is
extensive testing. He wants me to write up the rules for the
basic version of INFINITY (which has been simplified) for
the test panel to use. I'll be paid my regular consulting
fee and in a few weeks will be O.K.
He asked me to write a letter to Ceyce with my opinion
of his games. I said that I would be glad to speak
well of them but that I would prefer to have Ceyce call
me. He said he'd arrange to have him do it.
He repeated that when he gets involved with running the
company he'll need me to do creative work.
Drew up a second form for Felicia and ran off 12 repros.
