SATURDAY 10 MAY
1969 130th day - 235 days to come
Rcd. the May PLAYTHINGS and the final $500 of the
advance from Random House.
Wrote a letter to Hank Simmons and sent him the
reviews of the Parker Games.
Wrote to Al Samuels of aco telling him I am pleased
with the progress on TOTALLY-- and asking him about
FITTING & PROPER.
(cont. from 5/14) [5/14]
company for "Papercraft." When they got back form lunch
they played some ACQUIRE and one woman said she'd
buy a copy.
She called again to check on some games of mine she was put-
ting on the record form I brought her. She finds it dif-
ficult to write in the small spaces I provided.
A reporter staff writer, Henry Burn Pelham, from PACE mag-
azine, a California based publication, called. He got
my name from Bill Caruson. They are doing an article on
the long time space trips will take going to the planets
and how the time will be filled. He'd like to come tomorrow to
interview me about the place of games in this context.
Checked with BB and then called him back and invited him
for supper tomorrow.
Vol. II no. 5 of STRATEGY & TACTICS came (the one that was
missing). It had a very enthousiastic review for the
game TRAFALGAR.
The copyright material came from Barbara Francis.
Rcd. a letter from Tom Atwater. Rockwell of Stancraft is moving
again on the peg games and would like to see TEMPO,
INTERPLAY and ODD OR EVEN. May negotiate right away.
Claude and Anne over. Claude brought SPACE CHECKERS, PLOT,
& WORD TRAP, a word game in a booklet form. $4.
Played DIGIT, part of a game, using a 2-minute timer and
the following scoring, and rules concerning placement of
cards. The one who turns the timer scores the goal plus
10 points for each card. If he is incorrect he scores the
goal plus 50 as a penalty. The cards he uses are put
out of the game. The others score the goal plus 5 points
for each card. If incorrect once they announce they have
reached the goal, they are penalized the goal plus 25.
